yeah, there should be a message at the top of the mp3 page explaining... we need someone new to host the mp3s for us... with lots of space and bandwidth...

Approximately how much bandwidth are you talking a month?

I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but what if you were to put all the mp3's in a zip file and host it at megaupload or something, and leave instructions on the page that if people are planning on downloading all of the mp3's just click the link to get them all at once, it could save a lot of bandwidth... potentially. Just a thought.

It could. But for people with slower connections, it would be an issue.

I actually have unlimited bandwidth with my hosting plan for my website so it wouldn't be any issue hosting them there.

thanks matt, i sent you an e-mail yesterday, i hope you got it okay?

i think that if we were to use megaupload or a site like that, we would have to change the link every week or so?

I haven't seen it yet. Let me check my outlook.

I don't think you ever have to change the links for those files, as long as someone downloads them once every 30 days or so...

Response sent.

It looks like this problem may be resolved - but I was wondering if maybe you could have the mp3s available on a rolling schedule - 5 or so at a time per week or something like that.

Hopefully, though, you guys have worked it out!

I've seen links to the mp3 page posted up on various forums advertising the links as the contents of an actual album. I don't think the 10gb of traffic in the space of a few days is caused internally anyway. It's a pity really.

i should have them up later today or tomorrow.

By the way, I don't know how large the videos are, but I have another 600MB that you could use for them if you want to toss some of those up on my server.

thanks matt. that would be great. are you sure your hosts allow that? sometimes they don't allow that stuff, but it would be great if it was ok.

Shouldn't be a problem. If it is, we can always take them down.

Fixed. The link had an _ in the name when the file didn't. I renamed the file so it now has an _ in the name. You should be able to download it now.

Why don't you have them saved with www.filesend.com or www.megaupload.com ?

The sites will hold them for 30 days without download. As long as someone downloads them, they'lll stay up forever.

I use filesend on my site and it's very ewfficient (although we are using it for slightly different things).

wow, that's a lot! (isn't it? it seems like a lot..) thanks for being such a gracious host matt! :)

emmett, is the covers project going back up anytime soon, or isn't there enough room/bandwidth for that anymore?

I haven't been around in a while and figured I would do a quick update on the data transfer thus far.

We have done:

39GB in August
39GB in September
50GB in October
73GB in November
97GB in December
74GB in January
56GB in February

So for anyone counting that is almost half a terabyte of Damo MP3 and Video files!
