View Full Version : Smilies changing???

Has anyone else selected a smilie for their post and seen that once posted it changes to another smilie??

I just did a thumbs up and it came out as a thumbs down... Then saw another poster write something positive, and it was followed by a thumbs down. I assume this was the same problem. So I was going to ask, and I quoted the phrase... but when I did, it changed to a normal smile smilie...

Anyone else noticed this? As this can completely change the meaning of what I type, I want to get to the bottom of this

:smiley20: << Thumbs up???

Really??? That can't be good...

So do we have to write "thumbs UP" beside it when we write it just in case?

Consider the mystery solved! Both one of the thumbs down smilies and one of the thumbs up ones seem to share the same smilie code, so the forum software probably just selects one of them at random whenever that code is used.

The duplicated code is: ": i c o n _ t h u m" (minus the spaces)

You could just use ": s m i l e y 2 1 :" which gives you this: :smiley21:

and

": s m i l e y 2 0 :" which gives you :smiley20:

I always use these ones anyway because I think they look nicer :smiley20:
