was looking through the kcrw morning becomes eclectic video from when damien was on in january. it's different to the audio version theyhave upin that all of a sudden it cuts to damien singing Creep by Radiohead. strange that i hadn't seen that before. anyway, it's up as an mp3 on the here ("]live recordings[/url] page. if you want to watch the video of it, then go [url=")and click on the link. creap comes on after about 34 minutes when damien is changing his string. it's really good too!

Emmet, the video is relatively new! It wasn't up originally (makes me wonder if they ever gonna put the Frames one up). It's great to have Creep in there.

Damien was also on another program there, "New Ground". Have you checked that out yet?

I haven't listened to it yet, so I don't know what it is. Came up when I searched the whole site for Damien.

I know on a few occassions during the spring US tour, he was playing Blower's Daughter -> Creep, is that what this is? Maybe with BD cut out?

Am I the only one who doesn't rate him doing Creep? Does he even change it at all? I much prefer his own stuff.

Wheels, he's one of few people I've heard covering who does it justice in my opinion. He just gets the right emotions out building up to the climax. (you know what I meantdc;) Though he sometimes doesn't perform it quite as well. The version he sang at the El Rey show, for example, soundsnot all that goodcompared to some other times.

I got it wrong people! Thought it was "the Blowers Daughter" into "Creep" which is the first thing i heard of Damo's, although 'Scon' you're totally right, he's the only one that does that song justice

Didanyone hear Moby doin it at Glastonbury? Jeez that was a bleedin'disgrace that was. He should have been f***** and burned for that one. Damo's the man!! I reckon even Thom and the boys would like Damo's version (considering they seem to hate the song themselves thesedays). Oh yeah Emmett when I try to watch the Realvideos of Damien on Letterman it just seems to bring up this poxy add for "Startsurfinplus" or some such sh*te. It's really doing my head in!! What's the craic with that? By the way top class site, everything thing else is 5 stars. I don't even go on the official site anymore...no need!

Oh dear. I heard Mo's version& I loved it. Even though he doesn't generally have a strong voice, for some reason it reallyworks w/ that song. But my opinion only :-) Damien's version is of course wonderful as well :-)

Oh & thanks emmett!

I think no one really touches the original version but damien does it no harm at all.

that download isnt as good as ive heard it live... he really builds it up when he plays it live and then goes back into the blowers daughter which is amazing when you hear it... all in all i dont think anyone else could cover it better.... maybe Jeff buckley...

No problem (c:
Ok, to make it a small download I haven't included the whole song, just where it goes into Creep and back out to Blower's Daughter. This particular show was unusual in that it was Damien's brithday, so he got interrupted in the middle! I just cut that bit out too so that'll explain the sound fading in and out.
You might wonder why I used this version then? I just think it's one of his best performances of this song... it gives me chills listening.
Please don't burn this mp3 to CD or spread it around, you can get the full show that this was in on CD,with far better sound quality, quite easily for free.

--EDIT-- Can't seem to get that link to show up properly.. change the end to damienrice-creep(live).mp3 with the brackets in. It should work then --

enjoy.

yeah i was at that gig and have a really shabby live recording of the show... would love to get a proper one if possible?

Scon
07-24-2003, 02:55 PM
Well I'm not sure what your expectations of a 'proper' one are, but mine's not bad. It's not great either, but as far as I know is the best recording available of the show. You can get an idea of the sound quality from the mp3 there (though I saved it as a low quality mp3 on purpose which reduced the sound a little more).
