I noticed when I recieved private messages, I only get the notification that they have arrived until I move until another page. Is that right? Are they not just supposed to notify you as soon as they arrive...thanks emmett

tasha039
09-02-2003, 08:34 PM
okay...so it was irish lingo. No, I like irish lingo. It is funny. What do Irish citzens consider American slang? I am sure we have a lot. America should just change their language to slang...smileys/smiley17.gif

LisaOBrien
09-02-2003, 10:55 PM
he's not smiling...he's smirking...americans dont have alot of slang; but you do shorten words as in you lose letters in words...ie: Wharton is Whar-un. Butter is Butta. Water is Wata. Newton is New-un. and so forth. it's more your accents though. i know i cant talk with a new yorka for a mom and 7months in Noo Jewsay im sure the accent has had an effect.smileys/smiley2.gif

LisaOBrien

Hmmmm...you need to get around America more Lisa. The East Coast (New York, New Jersey, Boston) has those weird accents. When you go to the South, it is even worse. 'Ain't' is actually taught as a word in Texas. But on the West Coast we do not have those weird accents. And depending on who you are, your accent will vary. My mother was raised in New York..in Brooklyn no less, she used to have an accent but not anymore.

LisaOBrien

Me and my friend were just saying how nice looking this girl on the train was (using Irish)...next minute she tuned around and said "Go raibh maith agat!" hey, totally off the subject n'all but...how in the world do you use the whole avatar thing? I'm looking for some other choices...

anyone know?

tasha039
09-11-2003, 12:57 AM
Alan (therescueblues) helped me get mine. I had to give him my password so he could go in and do it for me since I am freakin dunce when it comes to computers. After that, he changed my signature and it stayed like that for two weeks...bottomline, try and do it yourself. You have to find your picture. Copy, remember the exact address above, go to your profile and insert address in the bar provided and hopefully your picture comes up...ask Alan if you get messed up.

administrator
09-11-2003, 06:49 AM
well if you find a picture you like somewhere online, right-click on it and select properties. you can then copy the address/URL and just paste that into the section in your profile. hopefully that will work for you

megan
09-11-2003, 12:52 PM
you can also upload a picture from your computer if you have one. just go into your profile and click on the "browse" button in the avatar section. it will allow you to search your computer. be advised, though, that it does change the size down to 64x64 pixels. so if it's not a square already, it's going to get warped. :)
