Ok, I'm somewhat of a "newer" DR fan, and pretty new to this list, so, if this has been asked and answered before, then a link to the thread would be much appreciated. Hokay, I'm sure I might be able to figure this out on my own with a little bit of thought, but....well....I'm lazy and tired of thinking. So anyway, allright, so any ideas as to what the O in O stands for?

ah lads. Apparantly its a semi pornographic French picture book about bondage and things. Other people think it stands for other things, such as an orgasm or a cycle of some sort.

Here is the synopsis of the Story of O

----------------------------------------------------

In a strange, secluded chateau, a woman know only as O is introduced to sadomasochism by her lover: he whips her, chains her, and watches her make love to and beat up others. In the process of "proving her love" for him, she gives up everything- even agreeing to be branded -- to provide him with pleasure.

----------------------------------------------------------

The following was taken from a Damo interview...

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is characteristic of the spontaneity he sought to achieve with all his songs the soon to be released album ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #99ff99">O[/B]’. Bringing me to my last question. How did he come up with the title ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #99ff99">O[/B]’?

“There’s this lyric in ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #ffff66">Amie[/B]’- ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #ffff66">Amie[/B] come sit on my wall, read me the <B style="COLOR: black; : #a0ffff">story[/B] of <B style="COLOR: black; : #99ff99">O[/B]’. We had thrown out loads of ideas for titles but none of them were like ‘yea we really want this’. But when ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #99ff99">O[/B]’ came we said ‘yea, that’s it’. I guess for me personally when I look at it, the reason why it fits for me is cause like with relationships they go round and round in circles and you never learn from mistakes and it’s always the same thing over and over. So many of the songs are like that as well, about the same mistakes- that whole thing we do in life - just going around in circles. And CDs go round and round as well. I mean, f**k it! ‘<B style="COLOR: black; : #99ff99">O[/B]’ just seemed to capture what the album was”.

from what i have read in some dream interpretation book:

"O is the perfect symbol with no beginning or end. It
indicates God / ideals."
