i read on another site that there is a "radio friendly" version of blower's daughter (similar to what happened with cannonball with a drum kit) but havn't heard it yet and i'm interested (more concerned though)to hear what it sounds like.

someone tell me its all just a rumor please!!!!!

this would be awful. i would taint my image of damo a little, especially considering his previous statements.

I heard it the other day, and yes, its crap, but it will probably grow on us. The drums don't fit the song in parts, and seem to spoil the haunting emptiness. The lyrics are edited also I think.

But its more radio friendly with drums, like I care about that.

Yes, like the cannonball one. Songs are made more upbeat by adding drums, makes them more appealing to a wider audience and more radio friendly.

Why is it that a new version needs to be brought out for the radioat all???

The Blowers Daughter is such a beatiful song why does it need to be changed.

I can't understand why adding drums makes it more appealing to non-fans listening to the radio!!!

Surely Damo himself can't be happy being told he has to change his own songs he has written from his heart!!

I'd be right peed off if some record label exec told me what i had written needed to be changed!!

I haven't seen the vid yet!!

To tell you the truth if they've messed about with it I'd rather not hear the new version!!!

I totally understand why Damo would do it because its obviously in his interests to become more known commercialy.

BUT WHY WOULDN'T PEOPLE GET THE ORIGINAL VERSION!!!

Daniel

I haven't seen the vid yet for some reason Damien reminds me of the character from "the Ring" the way he creeps up on Lisa (it'll make sence once you see it)Edited by: Building

Its a pretty safe bet that if the music industry do this to songs, its because they know it will have greater appeal to a wider audience. I don't agree with it but understand the concept. The vast majority of people don't want to hear downbeat, slow or sad songs on the radio, they want happy happy stuff. Just my opinion mind you.

They done it to David Gray at the start also I seem to remember.

It's a shame though because it takes away the whole beauty of it!!

If it aint broke don't try and fix it as they say!!!

this sucks, plain and simple. im not to pleased with damo because he is going back on previous word....i can understand if he was so adamant about it. this is something he has spoken very strongly against and promised it would never happen again. and yes i understand that there are always extenuiating circumstances and yes i know that with added popularity comes the expectations and the loss of artist freedom.

but this is the thing that pushed damo out of the industry initially...if things like this continued i would not be surprised if he walked again.

f**k me damo what are you doing?

You know nothing will ever change how much respect and love i have for your music but it can't go on like this. The blower's daughter is the most beautiful song that has now been ruined to let it be more acceptable to the masses ears

man today has f**ked me right off

this makes me sad, its not long before we'll be seeing the band with sexy dance routines, co-ordinated clothes and plastic surgery... i think that before damien makes any more decisions about his own music he should ask himself:

'what would leonard cohen do?'

hey guys,

just to let you know about this. it is an unauthorised version of the blower's daughter that the band didn't know about. when they did hear about it they asked for it to be taken back from the radio stations immediately. so if you hear it played anywhere, can you please let me know as they want to get it back from every radio station. thanks and i hope that clears it up.
