Another 9 Crimes cover.
 

I have started a little music project called 21cA [21st Century Almanac] which is going to consist of a bunch of covers of old folk songs and some DR.

the first song I have chosen is 9 Crimes by yours truly, and I have recorded the basic drum track and added keys. which i have available for listen. my friend's gonna come over later and help me with the vocals because i cannot sing for love nor money.

If I'm being honest I found it horrific. I don't like the drums, I think it completely takes away from the heartfelt emotion that is in that song. It's such a gentle song and I think the upbeat tempo that you appear to be going for, massacred what is a beautiful song. That'd be like me doing an indie version of "Tears in Heaven" or a hip-hop "Imagine" (John Lennon, for the very few who will be living under a rock and wonder which song i'm referring to).

Sorry to sound so harsh but I really disliked it :(

its not meant to be upbeat. it's meant to sound more powerful drums, not upbeat ones. so if thats the way it sounds then i will have to do something about it. and it is still a WIP, so I wouldn't have posted it expecting you to think it to be wonderful. so altho a little harsh, as in not what i was expecting, it was still somewhat helpful.

why no lyrics to anything you have up?
