Fancy features

Oh... I've just realised that on the front page you can select to 'minimise' forum sections that aren't of interest to you... so if you're not interestedin the 'everything else' section you can hide the breakdown of it's contents... or you can hide the 'igloo statistics'... and so you only see the information you want...

To do this there is a button on the right hand side of the blue bar at the top of each section... just click it to hide and click again to show it.

What other fancy features have people found?

Wheels 03-01-2005 12:24 PM

Oh come on, there must be more...

Do people know about the "New Posts" button on the top bar there? It shows you the latest posts in all forums

*Killian* 03-01-2005 12:27 PM

you can subscribe to posts of intrest to you....i think you get notified by email or something then when they are replied to....dunno though, havn't done it yet

Wheels 03-01-2005 12:32 PM

Yeah I think you can chose to receive the emails or not...

Also the FAQ section at the top is quite good... this is the forum FAQ rather than the site FAQ... tells you how to use many of the features

Wheels 03-01-2005 12:35 PM

Oh and I like how the board goes black and white when you click 'log out' :)

*Killian* 03-01-2005 12:45 PM

i like how when you check the currently active users, you can see what part of the forum people are viewing

cille 03-01-2005 12:55 PM

in your pm box you can dl the old pms as text/other files - so they wont disappear into cyberspace if you need to clear your inbox :D

ali* 03-01-2005 12:57 PM

you can rate threads with stars, and report any pad posters, mwuah ha haaaaaa!

Donsie B! 03-01-2005 08:53 PM

call me old fashioned bt all this technolgy scares me!!

Angela 03-02-2005 06:30 PM

Oh, only saw that now...if somebody is online there's a green light to the right of their name. :smiley1:

Whats a pad poster?? I'm gonna have to report you for that one Ali:smiley2::smiley36:

#Ian# 03-02-2005 07:11 PM

I like the pop up menus.

Bumpman 03-02-2005 11:16 PM

i dislike the reports for pm's, but i quite adore everything else... especially the big green 'online' button.

You don't have to get or give read reports... when you send one and it asks if you want a read receipt click cancel... similarly when you read one, you can decline to send a read receipt

Banjaxed 03-03-2005 11:01 AM

The Calendar is a nice idea. Can anyone add to it?

*Killian* 03-03-2005 11:04 AM

i think so, once you're logged in

Ah yeah i know, but is the question REALLY necessary in the first place?

And the answer is no :smiley36:

Bumpman 03-03-2005 03:43 PM

Emmett... TAKE HEED

cille 03-04-2005 12:55 PM

well, the reciept thing could be useful in the case where you've written a member who you are not sure is still around - if the receipt for the pm has been recieved thas been read and the person is still around, even if he she doesn't reply to it.
well that's as far as my logic would take me in that matter anyway - i rarely go on daytrips with that one though so i may be wrong.

on another note, i like how you can chose to open incoming pm's in a new window so that you don't have to interrupt what you are doing in the forum.

Bumpman 03-04-2005 03:21 PM

Logic eh? hmmm... hmmm... when i find somthing problematic i poke it with a stick.

eims 03-04-2005 05:10 PM

I'm liking this green light idea :) but as for the rest of the stuff, well it's v confusing to a simple person like me- I'll work it out --sometime..

administrator 03-05-2005 12:26 PM

i can turn off the read receipt stuff if that's what you'd like...

and you know you can start polls too? maybe i should start a poll to see if you'd like read receipts to be kept or not...

Bumpman 03-05-2005 01:45 PM

Sounds like a fair plan... How's the custom avatar situation coming along?

Miss Pink 03-05-2005 08:15 PM

poll? where how??? i want one!

cille 03-05-2005 09:32 PM
