Why Eskimo's?
 

Hello,
Im new here, i like Damien Rice. I went to his Fremantle gig. But i need to know about this Eskimo fascination, its nor that cold in Ireland (I am from there),its a lot more wet then cold, shouldn't we be all Fish friends, or Frog friends, I just dont understand.

Well, eskimo friends is a line from one of his songs 'Eskimo', which goes "so I look to my eskimo friends". Why he is singing a song about eskimos, I guess someone else will have to answer that :)

But why Eskimos?
Dont Eskimos club baby seals?
Surely Damien would not approve of such activities.

I think it is because at the time he was living in a "miserable, old, damp house" and it was reallllly cold, so maybe he was referring to the bandmates he was living with cause they felt like eskimos living in such a cold house.....

I heard in some interview that it's a bout a finnish girl (who also translated the finnish part of the song) that looked a little like an Inuit. She's supposed to be the kind of friend who is always there for you, even when you're acting like a twat. Or something along the lines.

hey, ramona, no reason to be that offensive to fellow eskimos. this is a place of music and friendship and we would like to keep that.
