buddy 08-29-2006 02:06 AM

kate is so friggin' hot.

SisterMidnight 08-29-2006 04:29 AM

thank you for putting in the spoiler clause, now we can really talk about it! (look away timmy)

i'm like yay! that desmond is going to be a regular this season! oh i love that sexy scotsman :smiley27:

jack kind of annoys me, so if the others end up killing jack (or locke, sorry) i won't be too upset, but not kate i like her too much.. why were those three chosen anyway?

and what's the deal with the foot of the statue? it reminded me of planet of the apes.. has civilzation collapsed outside the island? i used to think maybe everyone was really dead and never survived the crash, but maybe they're the last ones left alive on earth...

Timeé 08-29-2006 08:59 AM

"look away timmy" ???

hmmm i can look as i've seen the first two series and the third hasn't started.

locke has always been my favourite character.
you like desmond??!! is it his LETS LEAVE THE ISLAND AND SCREW THE NEW PEOPLE idea?

or is it his infatuation with the word "brother"

sister indeed

that was my original thought on it.. i believed that the island was some kind of purgatory. Hence why they could never leave it.

Jack is a bit of a good boy, he gets on my nerves but you have to respect the chap. As for John Locke (ARE U SERIOUS???)
maybe its a guy thing with locke but he's like the cooler dad i never had (no offence fat man) If Locke died then the whole island would die

i have a funny feeling he will play the biggest role with the others in series 3. and may even become evil?
After all henry said they came for him..
Michael and Walt make a comeback too which im not too pushed on

I hope its losely based around the others, i dont think it would get the ratings if they just transfered the plot over to the others and their side without seeing kate and jack etc

I prefer Sun to Kate personally :love7:

bollocks!

i wish jack and kate would work out their differences already.

i used to like locke, but he going a little crazy and it's kind of annoying.

i think hurley is my favorite character.

who are the "bad guys?" the survivors or the others?

SisterMidnight 09-12-2006 03:47 AM

both/neither.. ?

ah hurley's a sweetheart, he's definitely one of my favorite characters (he listens to damien so he's instantly cool in my book ;))

but right now i'm sooo sick of hearing about 'desperate housewives' season premier and 'nip/tuck' season premier.. why is the 'lost' season premier airing so much later than all the others? :(

apparently there's a commercial but i haven't even seen that on tv.. i was just trying to find out when the premier actually was..

So you're starting a thread for:
"The Sopranos"?
"Six Feet Under"?
"The Wire"?
"Oz"? (Harold Perrineu's previous genius series)
"Deadwood"?
"Curb Your Enthusiasm"?
"Rescue Me"?
"The Shield"?
"Weeds"?
"Homicide: Life on the Streets"?
"Monty Python's Flying Circus"?
"Seinfeld"?
"The Simpsons"?
"Curb Your Enthusiasm"?
"South Park"? :icon_sant

Don't get me wrong. I was amazed at how much better "Lost" actually was than I would have believed of such a wildly popular show. The characters are shockingly complexly written. "Best network drama currently running" I'd give you in a heartbeat. Can't touch the best of today's original cable programming though. Even "Nip/Tuck" with its equal penchant for the melodramatic is still better overall.

Thank God you didn't say "24" was the best of all time like so many do. For every real pro on that one there's an equally huge con (maddening because very occasionally it's quite exciting).

Anja 09-12-2006 03:14 PM

I watched the first time Lost yesterday hehe :smiley4:
Now i know what you are talking about lol Still dont really get what its all about but ill find it out!

oh right, i should have known you'd try catch me out on a technicality:smiley17:

"in my opinion it is the greatest show of all time"

i think everyone else got what i was saying tho:smiley23:

Spamlet 09-13-2006 07:20 AM

Naw, it wasn't so much to nail you as it was a reminder: to see if you've actually watched all of those other contenders first or not. If you haven't seen them all I'd recommend it since almost all the earlier episodes are on DVD by now. The last ten years or so definitely began the finest era yet for suberb original television drama series. More rewarding than about 98% of even the best films being made.

buddy 09-17-2006 05:06 AM

i enjoy several of the shows on that list (seinfeld is my all-time favorite sitcom, and i'm not a guy who like rating things - and weeds and the the simpsons [the show never gets old] are brilliant). i have to say, though, that lost is the only one that i really look forward to watching every week. i'm okay DLing the others a couple of days later, but Lost is a must-watch for me.

Bumpman 09-17-2006 12:50 PM

Actually for anyone interested out there, the creators of the show were doing something called "The Lost Experience" over the summer (check it out on wikipedia), basically they wanted to keep themselves busy while they weren't filming and also provide some answers to fans who had reached the end of the second season and wanted more. The whole thing took place using newspapers, a novel, television, the internet, photography and some other stuff too. The idea was to piece clues together in order to reveal some of the mythology behind the show...

Anyway it all came to a head the other day, the final piece turned out to be another of the "Orientation" films, and basically it explained the background of The Island, The Numbers, The Others and more. Check it out here, especially if you've already seen the second season finale.

SisterMidnight 09-17-2006 11:20 PM

aha so i'm not the only one who tried to follow those internet clues.. a lot of it's marketing though, one of the sites that i picked up in a commercial during one of the epsiodes last spring turned into a sprite advertisement :smiley22:

but since i did check out some of the web-based stuff i had heard of the valenzetti equation before.. that orientation film is interesting, but does it really explain everything? what about the black smoke, clones/doppelgangers, the electro-magnetic force of the island, the ultimate possibility of life extension versus just delaying the destruction of humankind...

and why are everyone's eyes changing color??

hazey 09-18-2006 03:38 AM

The show's creators have denied that Lost is about purgatory, parallel universe, the hereafter and such. Quite frankly, it'd be an immense cop-out and a huge disappointment if any of those theories were rehashed. Like Bumpman already mentioned, Wikipeda has a a massive Lost offshoot called Lostpedia ( http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page ) where many incorrect theories are "set straight".

Yay for Locke and Sun indeed. Mr. Eko is another one of my favourite characters. Kate is so dull, I've no idea why so many fans adore her. And the greatest TV show of all time is Twin Peaks, btw.

SisterMidnight 09-18-2006 05:17 AM

i never could get into twin peaks.. if i had to chose best tv show of all time one of my choices would be have to be x-files, which i heard was an influence on the creators of lost..

i really like mr. eko too, him and his jesus stick.. that flashback episode to nigeria when he was a boy reminded me of the invisible children..

there are so many layers to this show it's like an onion.. i don't know how anyone could keep up with all of the clues and theories, even with a whole wiki section devoted to it..

some folks are having a mega theory contest where people post up their theories and you can vote on the one that seems most plausible..
