Father John Misty (aka J. Tillman, ex-drummer of Fleet Foxes) AND Aubrey Plaza

...AND dudes kissing...:

glo32 02-06-2012 12:08 PM

wait, did I miss something? He left Fleet Foxes? He doesn't go by the name of J. Tillman anymore?

I love the song, anyway!

cille 02-06-2012 12:13 PM

Yup, he's a shifty guy that one. It makes sense, cause Father John Misty is somewhat louder than J. Tillman in many ways.

glo32 02-06-2012 12:56 PM

Yes, you're right, but I hope he didn't totally abandon the J. Tillman project... that singer-songwriter slow mellow stuff was amazing

cille 02-06-2012 01:02 PM

You never know, I think I saw an hour-long internet Q & A-session with him - he's funny and sarcastic as ****, but also opens up a bit:

cille 02-08-2012 05:48 PM

So, the album already leaked.

cille 02-09-2012 01:24 PM

..and I like it, although it's sometimes like a completely different artist.

glo32 05-18-2012 12:18 PM

One of my favourite albums this year... I absolutely loved it.
and Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings is probably still my favourite from the album, so intense:

cille 05-21-2012 06:28 AM

I think it will be my fave album this year, unless someone like Fiona Apple makes something incredible, which isn't unlikely..

borneoman 05-24-2012 05:01 PM

^ehem Damiano album 3 :D :D :D

or the new one by the Tallest Man on Earth :)

cille 05-24-2012 06:15 PM

Aaaaahhh no I dislike the *tall* guy's twangy voice

Damiano - phat chance in Hell...

glo32 05-24-2012 06:28 PM

cille it kills me to know that you don't like the tallest man, please consider listening to him again, give him another chance, come on. :(

cille 05-24-2012 06:30 PM

I did and did and then i did again, but... urgh, that voice. And I love IE David Gray, who also has a wobbly voice. But this nasal wobbly voice aint doing it for me I'm afraid.

davidcotyalex 05-24-2012 06:41 PM

Cille I thought DG had run his course with you??

I guess not - nice!

cille 05-24-2012 07:50 PM

^I really liked the acoustic stuff he did hmm was it last year? No probably more like the year before. And his early work will always be special to me. Saved my life'type stuff

davidcotyalex 05-24-2012 08:00 PM

I remember the save my life type stuff!!

and great on foundling...........yeah something like 18 months ago.............the "lost and found" acoustic gigs were indeed very special - that was the tour that followed the release

well all this certainly puts a smile on my face!!

davidcotyalex 05-25-2012 09:16 PM

for you cille.........and now I know where your avatar is from :)

pretty odd stuff but I love the prose..........dangerous minds btw is awesome - get some great stuff from her on fb!

borneoman 05-26-2012 12:51 PM

oh Cille how meanie you are to the Tallest Man :crybaby2: personally I think his voice is an acquired taste, a bit like anchovies haha :smiley9: I think that with time you get used to it... now his voice sounds perfectly normal to me...

but Cille why you say Davig Gray is woobly? sounds normal to me

cille 05-26-2012 01:21 PM

Yeah it's kind of wobbly and nasal too... His head is the wobbliest of all though!

I don't like anchovies...... ;)

Back to Father John Misty. He's mad it seems. Am loving him!

Shillelagh 08-02-2013 05:59 AM

Cille? What the fück man? This new flair is freaking me out.

Just left the FJM pre lollapalooza show. He never fails to amaze me from downing 3 red stripes and a bottle of fireball during the show. Talking about this show being the first time that he wasn't tripping when he played Chicago. Fighting with a fan about corporate festivals and his lack of compensation. And the cherry on top, played a request of mine. James Blues of J.Till's Vacilando!!!!! So fücking good. The whole show was. Happiness is a warm gun was bad ass and the jams on the misty tunes can't be beat. He is the truest rock star of our generation. Pumped to see him again tomorrow.

Hmmm, flair? You talking about this: :hello2:? I can remove it. But banjo usually is very :hello2:

Woaaah he played a J Tillman tune! AWESOME!!!! I remember reading that he didn't think he'd ever play the old songs again, this gives me hope that the Tillman and the Misty will finally melt together in a big beautiful musical bowl of awesome. He really a great performer.

I read a great piece on him recently about how he tends to piss people off at his concerts with his sarcasm. People don't always get his wit, I think. So brilliant, and so so effed up.

Shillelagh 08-02-2013 01:35 PM

Haha. Exactly. The tortured artist with a sick sense of humor.

No the flair was the new cover art. By the way you should see the new poster/stage poster. It's insanity. It's a massive sheet with a fück you to every corporate exploitation mixed in with a bunch of naked women an a picture of him ass naked at the top in the hall of fame.

cille 08-02-2013 03:11 PM

^Aaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Shillelagh 08-05-2013 09:40 PM

Saw him again saturday, at the end of the gig he completely trashed the stage and drum set

cille 08-06-2013 08:03 AM

Woah. Gotta search Youtube for that!

Aw thanks  Life's a bit tough for me these days so haven't been here so much - haven't even been all that excited about the new Damien album, don't know why. Much more excited with our Father John Misty and Jeff Tweedy's solo stuff these days. But who knows, maybe I will rediscover Damien soon?
