9 is #3 on UK Album Chart Midweeks!!

All thru the week, you can follow the UK charts as the week progresses. On Tue morning, the first midweeks are always announced... and 9 is in at number 3!!!!!

He's just behind McFly & Jamiroquai but above Girls Aloud who were #1 last week!!!

This is just Mon sales basically!!

Class!

borneoman 11-07-2006 03:59 PM

Got more info, Damien sold 17k on Monday!!!!! And in fact the top 3 is very very close, check:

Albums
01 McFly 18k
02 Jamiroquai 17.5k
03 Damien Rice 17k

usually, final sales are about Monday sales x 4, so Damien should sell around 75k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my god. That's such an achievment - when you consider there were originally only 1000 copies of O made.

borneoman 11-07-2006 11:13 PM

In fact anything could happen in the top 5. Girls Aloud was at #4 but about 500 copies behind 9... Also, McFly usually sell very well on Mondays then they bomb (baby fans buying first day the CD is out)... so anything is possible. And I'd say sales between 60,000-75,000 more or less...

borneoman 11-09-2006 03:14 AM

No midweeks today (Wednesday) although someone posted that McFly are down to 4 and apparently Jamiroquai are 1 and Damien is 2!!!!! Apparently top 4 should be safe since #5 is pretty far.

Besides, 9 is #1 on the UK I-tunes album chart (www.apple.com/uk/itunes/weekly):
1 9 (Damien Rice)
2 Back to Black (Amy Winehouse)
3 The Sound of-Best (Girls Aloud)
4 High Times-Best (Jamiroquai)
5 Ministry of Sound
6 Sams Town (Killers)
7 Motion in the ocean (McFly)
8 Razorlight (Razorlight)
9 Welcome to the black parade (My Chemical Romance)
10 Undiscovered (James Morrison)

Hopefully there will be an update tomorrow!

that's absolutely excellent - i'm so glad! Damien deserves it - I know he doesn't care about the chart, and neither do I as such - but i just mean in terms of what he'll get from in financially, and whether he cares or not - he must feel a sense of achievment. Even he he doesn't show it :d

borneoman 11-09-2006 04:47 PM

just been told that Jamiroquai are #1,
3,000 ahead of Damien! McFly are now 5,000 below Damien!!

Wheels 11-09-2006 06:30 PM

Didn't JK announce his retirement from music this week? Think I read that somewhere... gotta be worth a few thousand extra sales... so Damien could have been no.1? :)

When is the official week end? Is it Fri, Sat or Sun?

Daniel 11-09-2006 06:48 PM

in the UK charts, its Sun I believe.

SimonWales 11-09-2006 06:48 PM

Official UK chart will come out Sunday.
However, unfortunately Saturday is when most daily sales take place, and when most teens will buy their weekly music - which means it's very likely that MuckFly will see a large increase in sales, whereas Damien will likely remain steady.

I'd guess a close battle for 3/4 with Jamiroquai (with Jamiroquai coming out on top due to Christmas present sales of Best Ofs...), with Girls Aloud n MuckFly having a naked mud-wrestle for number1 (and what a wonderful image that is).

I think there's no way McFly could climb again... they'll be lucky to be #5... Apparently these new band called Angels are climbing up the charts by the minute due to lot of promo, it's a sort of Il Divo thing...

The final UK Album chart is announced on bbc chart show on Sunday. It's announced at 5,15 pm UK time

maybe the performance on Later tomorrow night will help with sales on saturday. When he was on it the last time it seemed to have a huge impact on the number of DR fans in the UK

borneoman 11-10-2006 03:28 PM

Friday update in!!!! Things are very very close. Damien is still at #2 and so far he has sold 41,000 copies. Jamiroquai now is 7k ahead with 48,000 copies, so pretty hard to catch. #3 and #4 are close to Damien... Girls Aloud are #3 with 40k, 1000 copies behind Damien and Angelis are #4 with 38k. This is the top 6:
(source www.havenforum.co.uk)

1 Jamiroquai-High Times:Best (48k)
2 Damien Rice- 9 (41k)
3 Girls Aloud-Sound of:Best (40k)
4 Angelis (38k)
5 McFly (33k)
6 Catherine Jenkins (32k)

This is Friday update, so sales from Mon to Thu. Still Fri & Sat to go, which traditionally are better for pop (and especially for Greatest Hits) than for indie artists...

I think now that #1 is impossible... and even #2 or #3 would be hard if GA and Angelis are that close... I'd say he'll end up at #4... although this Catherine Jenkins is rising dangerously...

Anyway top 5 should be safe, since McFly usually do pretty bad on Saturdays. My friend was telling me that for their last single Star Girl, which went to #1 couple weeks ago, they sold 30K on Monday, but then only 9K on Saturday. By comparison Fedde Le Grand did 19k on Saturday...

There will be no more updates now. To listen to the final position, you can listen to the BBC Radio 1, The Chart Show with JK & Joel is on Sundays between 4-7pm UK Time. Every week they do the album charts around 5,15 for about 5-10 minutes. This week they're doing a live special so not sure if their schedule will be so accurate... You can also listen online at www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 and then clicking on the listen live button.

sorry for the long post

Wheels 11-15-2006 08:56 AM

So any midweeks for this week??

borneoman 11-15-2006 02:24 PM

Yep, sorri, forgot to post... he is stilll top 10!!! Not droping much so far... This time of the year is hard for new albums, people only seems to buy Greatest Hits... look at All Saints, even the Sun mentions today they are not even top 40 with their comeback...

Wheels 11-15-2006 11:07 PM

Wow, good stuff.

borneoman 11-18-2006 01:49 AM

Friday update had 9 just outside the top 10... so expect something between #11-15 this week, which is ok, looots of new albums, mostly greatest hits...

But the good thing is that it looks like the release of 9 has had a positive effect on 9 Crimes in the Download Chart. The song is up again moving from #72 to #32!! Also, Cannonball re-enters at #166!!

Wheels 11-18-2006 12:52 PM

Cannonball for Christmas No.1?
