ITALTKAM on Secrets & Lies

I'm not sure if anyone cares, but I loved hearing It Takes A Lot To Know A Man toward the end of an intense episode of the ABC show Secrets and Lies last night! It always makes me smile to hear one of my favorite artists and/or songs when I'm not expecting it!

I know! My roommate was watching the show and I was in another room and heard the song playing and ran out to point out to her it was Damien Rice. I've been trying to turn her into a fan for a while, so any opportunity I get, I take!

love when they use Damo´s songs on tv shows, since he´s never gonna be played in US radios, that´s the best promo he can get

love when they played Delicate in Lost or 9 Crimes in Grey´s Anatomy back in the day

never heard of this Secrets & Lies show, will have to check it if it has good music :D

carrroline 05-05-2015 07:58 AM

Most of the time it confuses me, especially when it's a song that is meaningful to me.
The most awkward moment / misused song in my opinion was 9 crimes in Shrek. :/

Completely agree on that. Very strange.

And I really gave Secrets & Lies a chance, but everything about it is kind of awful. I loved the film though, so maybe I'm just biased.

borneoman 05-06-2015 07:42 AM

yep, 9 crimes on Shrek was nonsensical... on the other hand, its use on Grey´s Anatomy was genious, it was used when Christina betrayed Burke :)

Hey, if it wasn't for that movie I would've never heard of Damien Rice! Or at least it would've been a few more years later :D

Don't bother, the show was really lame. Every week my friends and I exchanged emails about all the stupid stuff that happened during that week's episode. :-P Hearing Damien at the end of this season finale was the best part of the episode!!

Circa1992 05-09-2015 01:35 AM

Yeah, it's not a very good show...definitely no Scandal or Parenthood! (I still miss Parenthood and can't bring myself to delete the finale from my DVR)!

9 Crimes was on This is Us, a new NBC show that started last night.

borneoman 09-22-2016 05:55 AM

oh that's on my to-watch list, is it good Eva?

eva_arg 09-22-2016 10:43 AM

yeah, I really liked it. It reminded me of Parenthood.

borneoman 09-23-2016 07:08 AM

watched it yesterday, good show
funny how all those tv shows love Damo's music... crazy how they used 9 crimes for the birth scene :) it's like we could use a song for the birth scene aka the most traumatise scene of the episode... what song could we use? :) 9 crimes, of course

glo32 10-01-2016 08:50 AM

This is us is enjoyable so far but I hated the use of the music, they make the song start and after 3 seconds someone starts talking or, worse, the scene ends and the music stops... They used to do it in the '90s... It doesn't make sense using music this way, it looks like just a way to show they have good taste

Here's the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxQmuJnrjxg

But sorry i don't know if it's in the movie or not,
and in the trailer for the french, there isn't "Trusty and True" inside...

glo32 01-31-2017 07:13 PM

I watched Manchester By The Sea the other day and didn't notice Trusty and True, so I guess it's not in the movie...

borneoman 02-02-2017 05:56 PM

watched the movie this week too
yep, not in there,
wonder why they used it in the trailer then???? (makes no sense)!!

Claude 02-03-2017 01:49 PM

Too bad, the song isn't inside...

May be it will be the same with "LION" a bit like a new "Slumdog Millionaire",
with the song "One" cover from U2, singing from Damien !

(about 1mn20s)

Claude 02-03-2017 02:10 PM

With the same cover "One" for the trailer of "The Impossible":

If i remember it well, the song was not into the movie...
:smiley2:

dcnick 02-03-2017 06:21 PM

I"ve noticed that movies do that pretty often, have a song in the trailer but not the movie itself. dumb if you ask me.

borneoman 02-04-2017 10:06 AM

it's true, One was on the Impossible trailer but not on the movie
I don't see the point
but for Damo is good I guess, lots of people see those trailers

cookienator 02-04-2017 09:22 PM

Didn't hear it in the movie Lion. But I highly recommend the film!

glo32 02-07-2017 10:05 PM

It's not on Lion either.
Go watch Lion though :D Brilliant movie, brilliant soundtrack (even without Damo)

dcnick 06-07-2017 10:08 AM

Manchester By the Sea was a good movie btw. everyone should watch it if they get a chance.

eva_arg 09-27-2017 01:13 PM

One was used at the end of the new episode of This Is Us last night. very emotional punch in the guts as usual
