Damien Rice has been asked by Julia Roberts and Jude Law to write either a song or the soundtrack for their upcoming film....they say they're huge fans of his.


that would be quite a big boost for him id imagine. did anybody else see it?

the whole soundtrack? that would be class.

It would be cool, bit like badly drawn boy for the 'about a boy' movie.


Although Jude and Julia are slightly higher profile than Hue Grant!!!

Do you think he'll do it?

i wouldn't say he'd do the whole soundtrack. that'd be a lot of work. considering the way he writes it might take a long time dothat..


also where would that leave his new album? he wouldn't havea new album released around the same time as an entire movie soundtrack (would he?).


i could see him doing a few songs for it, but prob not the whole thing.


IMDB says the movie is in "post-production", not sure what that means exactly but it sounds like it's been filmed and they're just sorting out some details (like the soundtrack/ (!)). strange...

actually, i could see it as a nice way of him to record and release old back catalogue songs that he thought he'd never use or get released. a good opportunity

even to be asked by Julia and Jude is amazing. It'll probably be printed in a fewUS mags too so that'll be good publicity for him

Yeah, I couldn't see him siting down to write songs specifically for it. If he does do it, I'd say it'll be old stuff too.

i'd say its probably just a few songs too as a whole soundtrack would push the new album back further, i'd still be excited though, whether its brand new songs or just old ones.


its great to see though that these high profile stars are relly interested in his work that much

I thought he didn't want to be famous and all that
crap.

I've been kind of getting that feeling lately too.

He never said he didn't want to be famous/successful/rich... just that that is not what drives him... he simply enjoys what he does and if all that happens then great, if not he'll still be happy.

i don't think he is selling out, but i fear that he'll be part of a menagerie that will WANT him to do so. like, more stuff like that f**king cannonball single mix. i fear that if he accepts this film and if it's another feckin hollywood romantic comedy (which i dont know, of course, and i defo hope it's not - i mean, the world DOES NOT need another romantic comedy with julia roberts trashing her talent once again[img]smileys/smiley11.gif[/img]), that the production co. will want a HITsoundtrack and will try to twist it into a more commercially style production.


but basically, from the little i know of damien's personality is that he won't go along with that. if someone tries to twist his arm he'll find a way to let them know that that's not what he is all about.

Its on Radio 1, Radio 2, AND local stations all day
everyday. No matter what station or DJ is on I still
hear it at least 4 times a day!
