Festival Cruilla, Barcelona July 8-10

https://twitter.com/cruillabcn/

borneoman 02-05-2016 07:47 AM

he plays on Friday, kinda low-key festival, never heard of it before...

so same weekend he's doing this one in Barcelona on Fri, then Cactus on Sat...

the weekend before he's also doing one festival in Finland, another one in Hungary...

it's gonna be quite a hectic summer for Damien

mikerennie 02-06-2016 08:03 PM

If you could pick 2 of these to attend, which would you choose?

borneoman 02-07-2016 04:16 PM

the best by far far far far far is the Italian one in Pistola, cos it's not a festival with 32632 artists but Damo solo playing on that day

borneoman 02-07-2016 04:20 PM

from the festivals, I'm very partial to Northside cos it's my favourite festival, it's in "my hometown" in Denmark, low-key festival but not that low key, they always bring all my favourites so I guess someone in the organisation has the same music taste as me, in recent years they brought Daughter, The National, Arcade Fire, Portishead, Antony & The Johnsons and Ben Howard last year for instance... this year there's also Sigur Ros but they play Sat and Damo plays on Sunday...
there's also lots of nice food and people are very chill out, if it's sunny a lot just sunbathe, but overall it's a small festival, nothing like those big festivals in Europe, you can watch the gigs pretty close, it's very close to the city, you actually can walk there...

borneoman 02-08-2016 10:54 AM

the only "but" about Northside is that he's not headliner so he will play 1 hour probably. So far we only know that Duran Duran also play on the same day...

in this sense, maybe this festival Cruilla/Barcelona in Spain is not bad, as he's the deadliner so he will play 1h30 min for sure....

borneoman 03-11-2016 03:00 PM

updated with the latest shows announced in Austria and Sweden

big gap between Pistoia and Austria, 1 month, guess he'll add more...

Lys 03-12-2016 07:18 AM

Isn't PiP on june 26? According to Damo's facebook at least...

borneoman 03-12-2016 08:33 AM

I'll check, I thought someone local said it was the 24th

EDIT: looks like its the 26th now

borneoman 03-17-2016 02:26 PM

Still a big gap between Pistoia and Istanbul... But looking at that schedule I genuinely hope he's taking some time off during that period :)

Very good reviews in the press today too
Sperm story/The Professor
I Remember
My fav faded fantasy
Cannonball
9 crimes
amie
Volcano - making audience sing
It takes a lot
The greatest bastard
Long long way
The blowers daughter

eva_arg 07-09-2016 07:14 PM

the stream quality was very poor, only 64kbps, no dj talking, but a couple of radio jingles and some beeps at 4pm and 5pm. they also lost the broadcast during the professor and something else came up for a minute or so

if anyone wants it anyway, just let me know

borneoman 07-11-2016 07:16 AM

Vere we want the Cactus review :D

ME, please :)

Cactus was a very good and intense gig imo. He added some slight variations to 9 crimes, it talkes a lot, hence the setlist was pretty standard. he even asked the audience what to play next, but they wished for volcano :/. Not much talking due to time restrictions (like in oslo).
Give the Recording a listen ;)

haha, marti! as ian said, it was intense and moving (very! at least, for me). i donīt think it was anything special but the energy of each song and the twits and turns on the regular ones was magical. probably it was only me, but i do believe people there could agree.

he looked very tired, his eye were shouting "bed" when he came out on stage and his voice sounded a bit rusty when he spoke ("wow" he said by looking at people and mentioned how great the festival was at the very beginning), but when he started playing... all disappeared.

again, there were no surprises on the set list, i luckily can say that iīve listened to the same songs live more than a few times now but they caught me very single time all over again. he was not really chatty, i think he only told the story of sperm before the professor and a few words to guide us through volcano chorus... and at the very end when he dismissed a few songs due to lack of time, but he looked very happy (maybe happy is not the right word, but i believe you can get the gist) and in a good mood.

actually, it seemed he would play cheers darling at some point, because the table was set: two wine glasses, three (!!!) bottle of wine and two chairs, but it didnīt happen. he said "cheers darling, no, because itīs too long"... he played tbd in the end.

ian, thank you so much for the recording. i tried to remember all the songs in order, but i lost count after the third one :p

it was a real treat to see you again and caro (thank you for all your help!) and claude (i got worried when you said you should drive back all night alone. i hope it wasnīt too hard).

caro took some great pics (i think they were allow to take shots only at the very end). hereīs the link for all, like me, facebook renegades :p
