The song was written for the second season of True Detective. Unfortunately, it won't be the opening theme. That goes to a surprisingly awful song by Mr. Leonard Cohen.

that's pretty amazing song. But sadly the intro and this song are the only things I like from the pilot :( maybe the cast of season 1 was too good that I have such high expectation
