She comes out so slow
Just found a new song of Damien where he plays keybord and didnt hear it before. So was just wondering if you have already heard something about the song "She comes out so slow..."

He's just started playing it (along with a couple other new ones) on this tour. Not much else is known about it at this point. Doesn't seem to me to fit into the much publicized angrier mood of album 2.

Putin,
Well, wow. I couldn't disagree more. :smiley36: Musically, it's a very repetitive barely varient version of "Then Go". Lyrically, next to "Mooday" and "Closer" it's one of the most unfinished sounding songs Damo's ever written. It's like a mere sketch which seems to have taken him about 15 seconds to come up with: She comes out So slow. I lied. So I wait Like a dog By her side. She drops down So low. I tried. But I failed. And she cries Like a little child. She won't talk (?) To friends When the poor attempt (?) Is almost over. (repeat first verse) "You Can" is much more 1) dark/cynical 2) angry 3) rockin' 4) finished. Just because he plays a song solo acoustic doesn't mean it won't be more fleshed out with the band in the studio. Ditto for "Wanted to be Wanted" (check those brutal, Machiavellian lyrics- no way are they lullaby-esque!) Besides which "O" mostly had that intimate 'one man' feel and having a tune which sounds more like that could make a great opener to throw people off from the electric stuff which should make the bulk of it up. BTW, folks, speaking of normally acoustic songs gone amplified: don't be surprised if "Insane" ends up on the new album because he played it on his electric in Cleveland and it was gloriously heavy as all Hell. P.S. Danka, gals, for all the vids... |
you're very welcome, brookefield and spamlet =]

the other one is
This would not have happened if i hadn't miss my plane, Would have been there when they told you I was wrapped withing the grain, In this big misunderstanding now, be misunderstood, I think someone is trying to **** with me, set fire to my wood. I wouldn't want, you to want to be wanted by me, I wouldn't want you to worry, you'd be drowned within my sea, I only wanted to be wonderful and wonderful is true, Truth I only every really wanted to be wanted by you. Its a stupid situation now where everything goes wrong, If you cant tell I am lying then you do not belong, In my bed go rest you head upon the bones of a bigger man, And he can cover you with rock wood and you can close up like a clam. I wouldn't want, you to want to be wanted by me, I wouldn't want you to worry, you'd be drowned within my sea, I only wanted to be wonderful and wonderful is true, Truth I only ever really wanted to be wanted by you. So go play with you piano, go write a mediocre song, About this shed of mediocrity, pretend there's nothing wrong, I never thought you were a chicken ****, I never though of you at all, Until you asked my to be part of it, now your showing me a wall. I wouldn't want, you to want to be wanted by me, I wouldn't want you to wory, you'd be drowned within my sea, I only wanted to be wonderful and wonderful is true, Truth I only every really wanted to be wanted by you. Truth I only every really wanted to be wanted by you. |

I agree with Spamlet. Although the simplicity of and infancy of "she comes out so slow" could be intentional. I see it as dark as well as the others though.
Now this is totally just wishful thinking, and I believe there is no chance in hell of it happening, but imagine if we had best of both worlds and he put a two-disc album... one edgier, angrier one we have come to expect now, and one that is maybe angry or edgy in lyrics, but musically/instrumentally, its on the 'O' side. Like I said, this won't happen. But what I can foresee is an album that has "softer" songs with a majority of them being rockier. I don't believe the entire album will be "rock, edgy"... maybe tone wise, and lyrically, but in a way, arent a good portion of his songs dark, lyrically speaking? Maybe it depends on your definition. I guess whatever he does, I'm sure it will be right. After all, just think of the picking the fruit analogy. |
Pink,
I make a strong case that the second line is actually "the rat within the grain" here: http://www.eskimofriends.com/forum/showthread.php?p=265941#post265941 |
i hear wrap, but it doesnt matter
|
Erm...
You didn't even bother to click on that link, didja Pink? :smiley28: |
Either that or she simply doesn't agree with you...;)
|
Niko,
Aha! But see, that's not possible 'cause in the link I did agree exactly with what she said... Which means that you didn't click on it either!?:smiley28: :smiley19: :smiley28: |
no that was just me sayin i couldnt be arse get involved with a wrap/rat argument
|
O ye eskimos of little faith,
According to Bump "Wanted to be Wanted" is now officially titled "Rat in the Grain". Guess that settles the argument.:love3: Dang. Wish I'd put money on it...:bom: |

Nah,
I wasn't overly shocked that they didn't actually call it "You Can". I was just surprised so many were so vehemtly against the idea. I still say that title would've been wonderfully ironic. |
