I love the forum.....I hang around the igloo more than any other website. But what would make the site even more awesome than it is.........An Iglooo Chat room! That is if it's all within Emmett's power.

But a chat room would be way too awesome.

Vienna 06-29-2004 10:14 AM

hey good idea!!!!

concetta 06-29-2004 10:15 AM

greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttt

Enoch 06-29-2004 10:19 AM

This was suggested before I think ...

Patricia 06-29-2004 10:20 AM

It has been discussed before... I think the conclusion was that with a chatroom, eskimos would post less? Can't remember now. Yeah, what abt a chatroom?

HydeBurns 06-29-2004 10:21 AM

Itwould help usall get into more touch with our...uh.....eskimo-ness.

Michelle Joey 06-29-2004 10:23 AM

But on the other hand,we can kind of chat already with PMs and posts.......

Enoch 06-29-2004 10:26 AM

I must admit, I do get bored reading chat between two people on some threads. There is always MSN or alternative messenger services forthat ....

As Trisha mentioned it may have been thought that a chatroom would detract from debate in the threads ..

There are always other chatrooms also ..

HydeBurns 06-29-2004 10:31 AM

I figured it had been suggested before because it's such an obvious way to go. And it probably would slow the forum down a bit. But not kill it. I love posting in the forum and I wouldn't stop.

But all the eskimos are such a close knit group. A chat room would just be perfect.

Yeah we can chat with PMs and posts....but a chat room would just be awesome. I wonder if Emmett would want to do a trial chat room...just to see how it effects the site.

Wheels 06-29-2004 11:22 AM

I remember Emmett set one up to see if it got used... and noone ever posted there... although there are probably a few more people online at any one time now...

HydeBurns 06-29-2004 11:25 AM

I'm on alot. And there is almost always at least a handfull of people on. I'm 100% sure that if there were a chat room now, it'd definately get used.

Miss Pink 06-29-2004 06:57 PM

no no chat rooms!!! my security thingy thinks they are "unsafe" and goes on in computer talk.......

Tink 06-29-2004 06:59 PM

mine does to i think

Patricia 06-30-2004 08:09 PM

I would want a chatroom NOW. I'm bored and a bit down...

Tink 06-30-2004 08:10 PM

Awwww Trish what is up my dear

Patricia 06-30-2004 08:11 PM

*whispers* I can't say here, there may be WATCHERS!!!!!

Tink 06-30-2004 08:11 PM

Ok you can always pm me if you ever need a chat

Patricia 06-30-2004 08:14 PM

Awww thanks dear, but it's too long to explain. I just want a chatroom now!

Tink 06-30-2004 08:15 PM

Okie dokes someone get Trish a chat room NOW!!!!!!!

Patricia 06-30-2004 08:21 PM

Thanks dear!

indigoangel 06-30-2004 08:32 PM

perhaps we could make one on yahoo or something, its pretty easy. i dont really have the time to, but its do-able.

HydeBurns 06-30-2004 09:52 PM

We could do that....but then it would probably just turn out like DamienRice.com.What's so great about the igloo is that warm vibe everyone here gives off. A chatroom outside the igloo would in time become evil and ignorant. Maybe even right off the bat.

But if it's the best we can do, maybe we should try it out.

i agree with you hydeburns, chatrooms have a tendency to get nasty if there is no one around to act as an operator and i dont think anyone here wants to spend theirtime guardingchat! and yes, the warm vibe is the best thing about this igloo, makes it nice and cosy

I don't come to the igloo because I'm a Damien Rice fan. (Which BTW, I'm a huge fanatic!!!!) ButI come because of the people. No one here is ever mean. Everyone here is Nice as can be. They're all on a level all their own, but yet we're all on the same level. I actually find the Igloo very therapeutic.
But a chat room within the website would be able to be programmed to have all the same guidlines and have the samerules as the forum.Without really needing administraters. The rules seem to be a big part of what keeps the igloo such a happy place.
But if needed, a handful of trusted, well known eskimos that have been here a while to be moderaters. (With strategic picking of the eskimos by Emmettof course to try to have eskimos from different time zones so good cahnce is they'll always be one in the chat room.)

HydeBurns 07-01-2004 12:32 AM

Bob fits. We'll just call him Bob MacMullet Macguyver.

***Gives Macguyver empty coke can, a belt buckle, and roach feces***

Now go make us a chat room with your Macguyver skilled ways!

Angela 07-01-2004 12:37 AM

Have you considered our MSN chat room? http://groups.msn.com/DamienRice

I know, it's different, but perhaps Emm could add a link to it at the top of this forum and you could see how it works out and then re-evaluate?

Just an idea. It is *our* group, not somebody else's(jeweller started it, I'm a co-mod)

SisterMidnight 07-01-2004 06:17 PM

Once again, Angela- very good suggestion!
