Does anyone have an accurate tab for this song? I bought "O" on Saturday and it's the best album I've heard this year by far.

I got a tab earlier from www.eskimofriends.com (well duh... :p) which lists the first four chords as G, G/F, Em, C with a capo on the sixth. This sounds right, but the tab doesn't allow for the change in the first verse, or for the chorus.

Does anyone have a full tab, by any chance? It's be much appreciated.

Oh yeah, hi, btw :)

Heya Paranoid, welcome... sorry I haven't a clue about those stringey instrument thingies... or the blowey or bangy ones for that matter.

Hi Paranoid, I'm currently working on getting together accurate Damien tabs. I mean accurate literally, exactly as Damien plays them, since all the tabs out there vary between close and mind-bogglingly wrong.
If I get a bunch finished that I can say are correct without hesitation, I'll release them. At the moment I haven't tackled Amie, sorry. Actually I should have said that at the start and skipped you the babbling.

dara 10-14-2003 01:18 AM

I spent 25 bucks on the legacy version its nice though i like it especially be my husband nice opener what did ya think Angela

Pete 10-14-2003 04:24 AM

im not angela but i spent 17quid on that buckley cd, worth evry penny. always good for him to play some dylan too.

Angela 10-14-2003 09:57 AM

Be My Husband alone is worth the money. And the Nusrat cover! Nice release. That's the way it should be done. I suspect we can thank Berkowitz for that one, as he heads up Sony's Legacy department.

I only wish the DVD were longer! I've been waiting to get the missing five second footage of TWYLD for a year now (footage was first used in the BBC doc last year), but that's exatcly what we got: five more seconds.

paranoid 10-14-2003 01:59 PM

What's all this Legacy stuff?

that's pretty close to what I play...a few notes

for the F always leave the two E strings open

for the G in the verse slide up from F using the same chord shape.

for the chorus I play:

Am, F, G, C , G/B
Dm, Am, Dm, F, slide into->G

can't guarentee that it's 100% accurate...

well, you had to stick an 'F' in there, didn't you?

I just can't bring my finger to hold all 6 strings...

paranoid 10-14-2003 08:52 PM

Sorry But keep trying! It took me AGES to get the hang of barre.. I'm sure if you keep trying, you'll get it eventually. And it'll be worth it when you play this song...

you don't need to hold the barre in Amie for the F. play it as I've said above with your first finger on the first fret, second string and leave the two E strings open. I'm fairly certain that's the Damo plays the F on this song.

Thom 10-15-2003 05:10 PM

Cool it sounds really good. How long is it?

Angela 10-15-2003 05:25 PM

Oh, the Chicago DVD is a must! It's the whole show, Thom! The first time I got it I must have watched it three times in a row!

Do you have broadband by any chance, Thom? You could download some.

Thom 10-16-2003 02:11 PM

No, unfortunetly i dont have broadband but damn i wish i had some money now to buy the dvd. That's rocking that the whole show is on it.

Angela 10-16-2003 05:13 PM

You can get it for $10 at eBay! Or you could buy the VHS version which is much cheaper. If all fails, put it on your X-Mas wish list

Thom 10-17-2003 01:53 PM

Yay! nice one Angela thanks

I discovered Damien a few weeks ago and I can't stop listening to him since.. I have a tablature website and I plan to tab a few of his songs in the future. You can visit my site here www3.sympatico.ca/g403z

The only song I tabbed so far is Amie.. It's not on the site yet, so here's a preview:) I'm not sure if it'll line up though..

Amie
transcribed by Catherine Gagné

Capo 7th fret

I have several live versions of this song and he does a lot of hammer-ons and changes to the chords. I transcribed what I think sounds best when played on a solo acoustic.

Verses

e--------------------------------------------------
b---3---3---0---3-----3---3----3---1---0---1---3---
g---0---2---0---0-----0---0----0---0---0---0---0---
d---0---0---0---2-0h2---0----------2---0---2---4---
a---2---x---2---3------------2-----0---2---0---5---
e---3---2---0--------------------------0-----------

Chorus

e---0--------------------------2-----------------
b---0---1---3---0--0h1-0---1---3---1-----1---3---
g---0---0---0---0--0---0---0---4---0---0-0---0---
d---2---2---4---0--0---0---2---4---2---0-2---4---
a---2---3---5---x--x---x---0---2---0---2-3---5---
e---0---3---5---3--3---3-----------------3---5---

Nothing unusual, nothing strange
Close to nothing at all
The same old scenario, the same old rain
And there's no explosions here

Then something unusual, something strange
Comes from nothing at all
I saw a spaceship fly by your window
Did you see it disappear?

Amie come sit on my wall
And read me the story of O
And tell it like you still believe
That the end of the century
Brings a change for you and me

Nothing unusual, nothing's changed
Just a little older that's all
You know when you've found it,
There's something I've learned
'Cause you feel it when they take it away

Something unusual, something strange
Comes from nothing at all
But I'm not a miracle
And you're not a saint
Just another soldier
On the road to nowhere

Amie come sit on my wall
And read me the story of O
And tell it like you still believe
That the end of the century
Brings a change for you and me

And Amie come sit on my wall
And read me the story of O
And tell it like you still believe
That the end of the century
Brings a change for you and me
