another new/improv from Austin
|
don't get all the lyrics, I'm travelling and cannot sit and listen properly on a computer with headphones but lyrics seem pretty nice
I hear something about crucify the better man, the anchor and the boat filled with holy water, nothing stays afloat... you're heavens above... and I almost swallowed you!!!!!! |
This is what I heard:
Jolt of early morning No excuse Got the early warning That I didn’t listen to Looking for holes in my hand Crucify the better man I don't know why I live on borrowed fuel The anchor needs the boat Filled with holy water Nothing stays afloat So, heaven's above You, the notes of love I almost followed (found/fault?) you |
could it be "I almost swallowed you" in the last line, thats what I heard
|
I hear an F and a T, but I can't be sure. This one was tougher than Forgotten Deers. It seems like an improv to me, as well.

looks like this is Holy Water, a Damo piano instrumental originally featured on this Amy Berg movie called Every Secret Thing from 2014.
|
we talked about the original instrumental song in here

WOW. ****ing love how extraordinarily dark this is both musically and lyric-wise! A few possible corrections based of how close I can get until I hear him do it somewhere else again. A couple places I've given more than one interpretation since they are murky enough spots to still be unsure :
Jolt the boat. Lee-wanting. * No excuse. I caught the early warning That I didn’t listen to. And gold(en or and) nail in my hand I crucify the better man Then I don't know why I live on borrowed fuel. The anchor Needs the boat. Filled with holy water Nothing stays afloat. But in your Heavens above With you (singing or sending) Notes full of love. And I Almost want you. Basically, it's about a guilt-ridden man who is drowning (likely on purpose) and refuses any help from God or others who loved him because he isn't convinced he deserves either absolution nor saving. * "Lee" is the sailing term for being near a shore. So "wanting lee" would mean your ship had sailed away from land and you were now stranded far away from it. |
wonder if he's played it anywhere else before
in the South American tour there were some piano songs played but never uploaded to YT love the mix of nautical + religious metaphors |
