Lets get controversial!!! ok, ok dont panic, there'll be no panties in any bunches around here thank you very much..... I'm just curious to know what damo song/s people either dislike or feel are weak, if any??? whatcha think?? any?? |
hmm not that fond of older chests.
|
you see there's what im lookin for good ol' honesty? care to share why you're not fond of older chests?? |
just not my fave damo song. that's all.
|
Cheers Darlin - I always skip past it
|
I don't dislike any as such, but i never listen to delicate... great song, just my least favourite.
|
Oh my God! Delicate and Cheers Darlin'?!?!? two of the best songs ever written!!!
(*possible slight exaggeration in my shock*) Each to their own though |
Cheer darlin-you really have to be extra depressed to listen to it I think
|
i was a bit worried about starting this thread (thought i'd get abused) id have to say childish kinda annoys me!! it just seems a bit too tongue in cheek for me. |

In short, good thread |
moody monday.....its just a poor song full stop. |
thanks aoife!! moody monday, yeah i'd have to agree its a bit weak, i'd almost say thats why its a b-side, but some of the best damo songs were on the b-sides, go figure?? |
Rule Number 2

definately... that the 1 song i never really warmed to on O... too but bitterness and full of over dramatic clichés Quote:
sounds too much like the bear nessecities for my liking... Quote:
The studio version is hillarious... i dont mind it too much but the live version is quite superb... i really like that one other ones id say : Rootless tree - the way he says "f**k you" constantly irratates me... its like an angry teenager speaking |

definately his worst... cheers banjaxed! |

Older Chests
|
why?? people why?? i want to know call me nosey, call me inquisitive, call me donny!! oh wait, no!!! don't call me donny!! but do tell me\us\forum why you dont like a particular song!! what can i say?? i have an interest in peoples opinion. |
I love older chests! And on Irish Music Central (an e-zine for irish music), its put up as one of 'Damien Rice favourites'. My only complaint is that its too long, but when Lisa comes in all the waiting seems worthwhile!

Need I say more? Those lyrics are awful... I mean, really Damien, you're better than that. |

i love that song for that reason, i love the anticipation and the build up and then the pay-off. Iremember is the best for that, the lisa bit into the quiet damo bit and then the screaming\shouting crescendo and end.. love it!!Edited by: sonofelvis |
I love all his songs! Seriously, I actually do. There's not one I don't like. Naturally, I have favourites, but I don't think of any as being "worst" or "best"...
|

ah c'mon??? ok, so which song would be at the bottom of your damien rice's best songs list?? |
Ummmmm....God, it's too hard! I suppose...Toffee Pop, if I absolutely had to choose.
|
there you go, that's what i'm lookin for in this thread. not necessarily bad songs just your personal opinion on the one you like the least. |
I like all of his songs pending on what mood I happen to be in at the time...The only song I find myself shying away from is Volcano. Its a great song, but its somewhat labeled as being his big hit in the states...ive just heard it one too many times. I still love the song though.
|
i'd say moody mooday, childish or groovin. they're not bad exactly, just... not top damien stuff...
|
Hey sonofelvis, are you just trying to boost your post count?
As long as I'm here, I must Moody leaves me could as does Rootless Tree. |
Older Chests.. for me. never liked it much. |
god i love cheers darlin!! i guess i tend not listen to delicate and older chests...dunno why just my least faves!! |
No way -rootless tree is one of my favourites. I wouldnt say delicate is one of his worst, its just one that i'd shy away from. dunno why... there is crapper songs like grey room, childish,...but like the kind of weaker songs out of them comes a cohesion and an understanding of damiens writings and i findtaht reall interesting. toffee pop someone mentioned... that is truely awesome! |

i looove cheers darlin, older chests, toffeepopand delicate so much - funny to see that it matters less to others...

i love Grey Room, it has warm and peaceful vibes in it, different from his other dramaticly emotional songs. |
hmmmm, dont like lonely soldier that much, but now that i know its for a movie, it might make more sense, i just dont really like the lyrics and i think the chorus sounds a wee bit like the chorus of grey room. aside from that i hate rule no 2, whoever said about the lyrics was right. if i had to choose from 'O' id pick older chests or maybe amie *shields herself* i just never got as attached to them as the others
|
Iadore Grey Roombut I disagree, Ithink it's one of his most emotional songs: starting out internally wallowing in isolationuntil it explodes thrillingly as he finds the will to carry on alone.Rule no 2. is another of my favorites and perhaps his most underrated, imo. "Weatherman" and "Moody Mooday" I really don't care for very much. Plus I've heard the live version of MM and thought it was pretty identical to the studio version so I don't know why jeweller is so against it. |
Damien's worst song...i know not of what you speak!
|
weatherman is not that interesting to me either - but that's a juniper song! to me, most songs/versions of songs from that period are not damien standard at all. he has certainly grown since then!

I agree with Jenn!! |
I couldn't possibly say what his worst song is but Grey Room is one of my favourites!! http://www.eskimofriends.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifIt's amazing!
