rubthabuddha 03-11-2005 02:43 PM

I mainly play on a Taylor 414-CE for my live shows.
For my classical work I have a Takamine EC132 and a custom built Robert Ruck.

And now I am on the hunt for a shiny new mandolin to waste away the hours with!

dramaking 03-11-2005 02:47 PM

wow, what a nice guitar, corey! seems to be very good quality! i've got nothing special, it's a hoyer!

we'd never jump on you for that mate! good for you for owning a guitar and wanting to learn... we all started somewhere... keep it up and good luck!

Juzzza 03-14-2005 02:16 PM

I have a battered old Tanglewood with a tiny body and a shadow pick-up fitted.

It's temperamental, sometimes it sounds incredible and sometimes it sounds like someone scratching their nails on a blackboard.

Anyone heard of Carver guitars, I saw a beauty in a shop window but have never heard of them before.

Livo 03-14-2005 09:35 PM

crappy balck encore with stickers my brother put all over it. sounds okay though.

maccas81 03-15-2005 04:50 PM

i have a crafter slimline one, not sure of its model number but my god it sounds class when its plugged in! i know its not a well-regarded name or anything but id recommend them to anyone, they are excellent and very versatile

I think that you can get the 414's for around a thousand USD's if you shop around for a used one. That is what I did. And I am definintely in love with it. But I did have the opportunity to play a 814 last week and I might have to upgrade when I get rich!

My set up runs through the standerd Fishman Prefix electronics. My 414 was bought before Taylor introduced the ES System. But I run the guitar through, in this order; Korg DT10, Vox V848, Barber Tone Press, Boss DS-1, Line 6 DL-4, Boss Loopstation RC20XL, and then a LR Baggs PADI.

coreybyrnes 03-18-2005 05:16 PM

gotcha.... i've heard the ES system is sketchy so be glad you don't have it... it's much harder to get that uninstalled than it is to get your fishman uninstalled to upgrade...

izze 03-18-2005 07:57 PM

my guitar

i use my brothers 3/4 size blue brunswick. cheapie but sounds pretty good to me!

rileyf 03-20-2005 04:40 PM

reyvee61 03-24-2005 02:24 AM

coreybyrnes 03-24-2005 02:16 PM

nice lineup! beautiful piano you have there... what is it? where do you live?

the d15 is nice... i had one a while ago... sounded excellent just sitting around strumming away... i had it as my alternate tuning guitar... sold it simply cause i'm not a dreadnaught kind of guy :)...

cello_pudding 03-24-2005 04:36 PM

yeah...i thought i wasnt a dreadnought guy..but really, when do you ever use the frets past 14? and you can reach past there pretty easily just in case.

i hate solos on acoustic anyway.

oh, i live in illinois (US) the piano is a witzel. i dont really know much, i got it for free from a teacher from my old high school. i just had to tune it up and put some strings on it, ad fix some hammers.

for me it's the body style, not reaching past 14... reaching past 14 has to do with being cutaway or not and you can get that on any style guitar... i play smaller body styles... see my post (second one in this thread) to see what i play and to get an idea of what a folk style guitar looks like... well balanced highs and lows and perfect for recording and live applications!

cello_pudding 03-24-2005 07:50 PM

ah, for some reason i thougt dread was an antonym for cutaway

i donno...i just play

I have a crappy encore thing, I've got no need to get anything better at the moment.:smiley1:

H to the ickle 03-25-2005 12:19 AM

I rock a Taylor 312ce, Fall 2004 edition. The Tazmanian blackwood looks amazing and sounds awesome.

Sometimes I play an old Yamaha classical that my dad got for graduation from highschool in 1974, I like it alot, just not as much as the Taylor.

Me too, got it last week and i've not put it down yet, just out of interest do any of you guys use acoustic amps or just normal electric amps, apparantly the signal from the pickups is electromagnetic on a full electric guitar and in a semiacoustic it is like a little microphone which means it sounds crap through a normal electric guitar amp. I've always just used a cheap(ish) electric amp and it sounds OK but mabye i would get a much better sound through a special acoustic amp :smiley5:

Btw i'm new so hi :)

niallo 03-27-2005 12:56 AM

ive tried acoustics through electric guitar amps but they are not sensitive enough ,you just gotta play it through an acoustic amp to get the proper sound.and hello to you mr new
