Been wondering about desole myself, shahar. Tried to run it through a cheap-o french and italian translator, and got nothing. Anyone in the widespread EF universe know?

Nine 12-16-2006 10:45 PM

i'm guessing it's some form of the word desolate... but i have no idea for sure.

Nine 12-16-2006 10:49 PM

ah, i have just found out. It means, in french - "afflicted" - in the sense of "i am."

so he's saying "i am afflicted."

Timeé 12-16-2006 11:02 PM

desolé in french means to be sorry.

je suis desolé = i am sorry.

i was taught this in french.
but if its wrong please correct me.

ooh interesting. You are probably right.. but babel fish says not, hehe. in the french dictionary it has (je suis) after the word. I copied and pasted into babel fish, so i wrote:

desole (je suis)

(you have to have the accents in the right place on desole though)

then it comes up as: afflicted (i am)

but you know what these things are like.

decent cover of coconut skins.

Adelaide 12-17-2006 08:48 PM

I've known désolé to mean sorry also :)

I like the Matteo guy that someone else posted some time ago. His accent bothered me at first but it's grown on me. His cover of Nirvana ain't bad either...

edit -- http://youtube.com/watch?v=UmKriYeJTKQ

there it is.

Felipe 12-17-2006 11:51 PM

yes, that's right! je suis désolé = i am sorry

but there's two accents in the word: désolé

Nine 12-18-2006 12:30 AM

i correct myself, it does indeed mean sorry!

and yeah, Matteo is excellent - really interesting voice.

jolson05 12-18-2006 01:11 AM

She's from the UK? My god she has a better American accent than most Yanks do!

Actually, that's pretty depressing; that's what a lot of popular music about does these days :(
