2016 tour dates??
Well it looks very early to talk about the 2016 tour dates now but I woke up this morning and saw my friends back in China sent me this link
http://www.shsymphony.com/item-index-id-316.html it's in Chinese but we can still tell that it's 5/22/2016, Damien Rice and his Band, at the Hall of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra :icon_pray is anybody here can tell if this is true?? It looks really early for the tour dates in 2016 and with his band??:icon_pray |
hmm, will he sing What if i'm wrong?
|
His manager told me last week that he's going to be in Australia and Asia in the spring, so I'm guessing it's true. Not sure about the "and his band" part though.
|
cannot imagine how Damo would set a foot in China :( (I would´t myself)
|
Yeah, I was surprised when he specifically mentioned China. Sarah is planning on doing New Zealand & Australia in Feb. And March, then going up into Asia after, so she just may get lucky and have the opportunity to catch him someplace over there.

Shangai is not Tibet ;-)
|
i think it may be an interesting thing for him to go... and to check everything out himself instead of keep taking what it´s being said, more like "i know now, i can stop imagining how it is over there" kind of thing, if it makes any sense.
|
And, why should the people/fans suffer for the government's policies? I'm sure he won't be able to even say anything about Tibet or the Dalai Lama.
|
as someone pointed out in the Italian forum,
maybe it's the other way around and Damien does not get a VISA to enter China as he´s been involved in pro-Tibet projects |
Banned! 18 Musicians Barred From Stepping Foot In Certain Countries
Oasis – China: Oasis were "bewildered" when the licence to stage gigs in Shanghai and Beijing was revoked in 2009, due to the band's links to the Free Tibet movement (Noel appeared in a gig for the movement with U2 and Coldplay in 1997). An official later said it was nothing to do with Tibet, and that the gigs were cancelled due to a "tough economic situation". Banned! 18 Musicians Barred From Stepping Foot In Certain Countries Bjork – China: For similar reasons to Oasis, Bjork was banned from performing in China for campaigning for Free Tibet. Her song 'Declare Independence' particularly upset the authorities there. She also performed the song in Tokyo and dedicated it to Kosovo's declaration of independence in 2008, which may have led to the cancellation of her performance at Serbian festival EXIT that year. nme.com |
Well looks like hes playing Hong Kong this year too
Major disappointment imho |
I hope things don't change and he gets to perform. Even if he plants a little seed in someone's mind, it's a beginning!
Just in case Donald Trump becomes the U.S. President, I want to proclaim that leadership does not always represent the people. Especially in China! |
i feel the same thing.Kind of weird .... anyway...
|
anybody knows if hewill go to Melbourne soon ?

July 7 Royal Park http://www.royalparklive.nl/ https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CcDPj3jWwAAyKtq.jpg |
Ok thanks Eva !
So the 07/07 in Netherlands, at 08 in Barcelona and the 09 in Bruges...! A bit complicated. :crybaby2: |
Damien Rice is coming to my own little village!
I do not believe it. Last year I went all the way to Cork to see him and on 7 July he is playing within walking distance of my house. I hope I can get a ticket!!! |
I made a special thread for it, because it's such a special show and location :):icon_kidr

they just added a second date for May 22nd check this out: The first show sold out in less than three hours, and we’re aware of just how sky-high demand is. We’re also aware of difficulties that non-Chinese nationals face with buying tickets via the SSO’s system. With that in mind, Split Works and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra have RESERVED 150 passes for foreign passport holders in China. These reservations are open only to non-Chinese nationals. To prevent ticket scalping by touts, we’ve also restricted sales to one ticket per person details here: https://www.facebook.com/splitworks/...type=3&theater |
