personal happiness...how do define failure?

touche

tasha039 09-11-2003 07:46 PM

you post reminds me of a SNL skit where it is Mike Meyers playing Linda Richman (a jewish yenta) and when she get verklempt she says "I am getting verklempt. I will give you a topic. Sweet Peas. Neither sweet, neither peas. Talk amongst yourselves, discuss. You are the Linda Richman of Eskimo and Steve is fastly getting there. You may even call Steve the Don Juan of it.

megan 09-11-2003 07:51 PM

tasha... if success is personal happiness for you, how do you get there? what is the means to the end?

failure, for me personally, would be something along the lines of not reaching a personal goal that i set for myself. that is pretty far-reaching... anything from school to my own guidelines of morality and how to act as a person.

megan 09-11-2003 07:54 PM

wow, steve is the don juan of eskimo? lol.

tasha039 09-11-2003 08:09 PM

no, he is the don juan of thought-provoking questions on Eskimo. You are Nathaniel to his Ayn Rand.

kavu478 09-11-2003 08:23 PM

thank you, tasha.

tasha039 09-11-2003 08:28 PM

megan 09-11-2003 09:16 PM

i am trying to catch up! there is so much to learn. i mean, i just learned steve's NAME.

back to the question(s) at hand.

tasha039 09-11-2003 09:47 PM

I had to ask him three times before he told me his name. I prefer to use people's names and not there screename. Not sure where he got the KAVU478

Success - Achieving personal Goals and happily reflecting on how you got there.

Failure - No such thing, just delayed successes.

Nice avatar Kavu.

i define successon a personal level as happiness

any way you get there is fine, as long as you do not impead upon the happiness of others

katinka 09-12-2003 08:39 AM

you simply CANNOT reach happiness if you impead upon the happiness of othes. deep down inside you must feel terrible if you do it that way..

Nich 09-12-2003 08:43 AM

well to a certain degree you can

example: you are up for your dream job...you are by far the best candidate and hence get the job...you are happy.

person who didn't get the job is unhappy...you INDIRECTLY impeaded upon his happiness

katinka 09-12-2003 08:46 AM

gosh, you go far

but than, the other person who didn't get the job is responsible for my happiness. so, he or she is blessed with that.

Nich 09-12-2003 08:51 AM

sorry..i should have been philosophy major

Nich 09-12-2003 08:56 AM

katinka 09-12-2003 09:01 AM

Nich 09-12-2003 09:11 AM

FlyingCrow 09-12-2003 09:12 AM

Sucess or how sucessfull you are is something other people judge for you. Your own personal happiness is all that counts.
