Right beforeyou ask, I havn't checked every single damien site to find out what it means but I thought you guys would have your own views...

What does the album name 'O' actually mean? or even what does it represent for you? I read a quot in the Observer I think saying it represented an orgasm...

mestonf 05-26-2004 02:17 PM

"O" is the ongoing circle of things in life. things never stop............apart from that i can't think of anything else?!!?

Uno- X 05-26-2004 02:19 PM

but that orgasm version is sthng new to me. I like it.

mestonf 05-26-2004 02:22 PM

yep orgasm sounds good!
to me its quite orgasmic! but then that just sounds a little weired and perverse.....so i shall stop talking!

Uno- X 05-26-2004 02:23 PM

naw go on dear.

ali* 05-26-2004 02:33 PM

Uno- X 05-26-2004 02:39 PM

moi?where's that innocent face smiley!!!???

Spamlet 05-27-2004 11:24 PM

I definitely have always agreed with that theory: nearly every song builds slowlyin intensitythe way any reeeaaalygood orgasm does.

I do think that just like most of damo's deceptively simplelyrics though there are so many levels of meaning to that title.Edited by: Spamlet

mestonf 05-28-2004 01:04 PM

very good point spamlet.....every damo song is like an orgasm.........but then how would i know what an orgasm is like!

Donsie B! 05-29-2004 06:05 PM

Yeah...

unexplainedmuse 05-29-2004 09:55 PM

'does this album`s title suggest a perfect circle, an orgasm, or just the void that haunts even the deepest relationships?

all that and more in songs that, for all their quietness, leave a dark, lasting impression'

i think rolling stone summed it up pretty nicely

arcus 05-31-2004 01:25 PM

Hi Dylan,

Although I like the whole "orgasm" idea (In reality, not to mention as
an explanation for what "O" means), I heard Damien explain that it was
simply taken from the name of the main character O, in Pauline Reage's
sadomasochistic novel "Story of O".

arcus.......(quite fancying a big O actually )

Wheels 05-31-2004 01:38 PM

Didn't he say somewhere else that he has never even read it?

Uno- X 05-31-2004 01:40 PM

who cares!!!

mestonf 05-31-2004 02:06 PM

yeah thats what i thought that it was from that book

Banjaxed 05-31-2004 02:07 PM

O is the ongoing circle of things in life.
O is a CD, cause it looks like one and goes round and round.
O is the character from the novel The Story of O.
Ois the wheels of Damien's bike as the name came to him.
O stands for orgasm.
O is a vagina.
O is a mouth.
O is a blank smiley face
O is zero, nothing.
O is the earth.

mestonf 05-31-2004 02:10 PM

that kinda covers everything there banjaxed pretty cool!
i like the one of "O" being a vagina! very absurd!

Wheels 05-31-2004 02:12 PM

O is the expression of surprise when Damien realised he should call his album O

Banjaxed 05-31-2004 02:14 PM

maybe not that absurd, at the risk of sounding like i'm full of sh*t, a circle is used to represent a vagina in many ancient cultures.

It's a symbol of life and desire and probably many other things. It wouldn't be totally out of place.

Charlie 1 2 05-31-2004 02:21 PM

Heh guys, really like dat one wheels, it really puts the "O" in inverted commers, orgasm(?)cmon guys, i kno o is a sensual motherf**kin album, but have u had an orgasm recently?

mestonf 05-31-2004 02:50 PM

nope can't say i have Charlie,

Charlie 1 2 06-01-2004 09:18 PM

Fair enough, probably shouldnt have mentioned it so...

Spamlet 06-02-2004 09:00 AM
