Just wondering who will be listening?? It should be a great show

Wheels 12-13-2006 12:27 AM

Oh I'm sure quite a few of us will log in :)

Britt_wcl 12-13-2006 02:23 PM

awesome! :)

lgallagher 12-13-2006 07:41 PM

i should be there!

I'll hopefully get in line early enough to get myself a seat! twice in one day, friday is damien day.

jossfan 12-13-2006 07:57 PM

How early do people think we need to line up at? I've been to plenty of lunchtime concerts there - and have never had a problem getting in. But I am thinking that might not be the case on Friday. Any ideas?

It was funny - I saw a show world cafe downstairs a couple of weeks ago and said to my friends --- I wish Damien would play here. And now he is! Yay!

Scrappygrrl 12-13-2006 08:24 PM

I'm planning to get there no later than 11. I figure it'll either be overkill and I'll be the first person in line, or it'll be mobbed and I won't get in.
I've never been to the Free At Noon with a very popular artist so I'm not sure what to expect.

Britt_wcl 12-14-2006 04:37 PM

yea, I would suggest getting there at least an hour early

mario_d 12-14-2006 08:12 PM

You do realize they gave out tickets, right? And that you need a ticket to get in.

Scrappygrrl 12-14-2006 08:55 PM

Yup, I have a ticket, but per the e-mail they sent me, they overbook and cannot guarantee that you will get in, even if you reserved a spot:

"Signing up online for a Free At Noon show gives you priority
standing, but does NOT guarantee you will get in. We
typically overbook for each show due to anticipated
no-shows. We have done pretty well estimating the total
number of guests who will attend, however when a very
popular artist is performing, we sometimes have to stop
admitting people (even if they signed up in advance!)once we
reach the maximum occupancy of the venue."

borneoman 12-15-2006 04:48 PM

Anyone listening?
So far
1 Older chests
2 Cannonball
3 The animals are gone
4 Coconut skins

Topspin047 12-15-2006 04:51 PM

yep! apperently he's tired, just rolled out of bed. haha

borneoman 12-15-2006 05:15 PM

5 Accidental babies
6 Delicate
7 Volcano

before Volcano he spent 2 minutes deciding which song to play. He said he couldn't paly The Professor because of the bad language, he almost did Amie, almost did 9 Crimes but in the end it's Volcano

borneoman 12-15-2006 05:18 PM

and finishes with
8 The Blower's Daughter!!

Topspin047 12-15-2006 05:21 PM

haha that was funny

"what day is it?" "friday? why are you not at work. It's America."

"this number seven gap is causing a lot of problems

yeah we've just talked through seven."

( I think he heard me screaming Volcano through my computer haha)

"I havent even brushed my teeth yet so i pity whoever has to use this microphone after me."

can't wait til tonight :)

Scrappygrrl 12-15-2006 06:29 PM

Just back from XPN

It was amazing! They were all so cute and sleepy-looking, puffy eyes and bed head.
I got there at 10:30 and there were about 30 ppl ahead of me in line - I was still able to get right up front in front of Vyv. After the Number 7 song debacle, and they decided on Volcano, there was some sort of musical miscommunication between Damien and Vyv and she did not do the cello intro before he starts singing. She was mortified! She looked right at me and was like "Oh God!" and then just hid her head in her cello.
Accidental babies with the outro was amazing!

This was a great way to get in the mood for tonight!

PS I went out the back and the van was right there. I hope some folks got to meet him - I had to leave because i was running late to the sitter (due to Damo's oversleeping, but that's Ok, well worth it!)

lgallagher 12-15-2006 07:54 PM

wow

that was incredible...i was right in front of vyv as well scrappy. that solo at the end of accidental babies was gut wrenching. it was unique just to be so close that you're actually hearing the instrument and not just the amplification. i was hoping for Eskimo to top it off, eh well..maybe tonight.

uglyandproud7 12-15-2006 08:18 PM

made the show as well today (snuck outta work for a longgg lunch) and so glad i did, despite not having a ticket i decided to show around or before 11:30am, gave my name, got stuck holding the front door for over an hour and they just gave me a blue stamp to enter, yay.

good performance worth the wait!

question: was that the usual drummer (i've seen drice a few times now (beacon, borgata, tweeter, etc.) but wasnt sure.

looking forward to tonite.

Scrappygrrl 12-15-2006 08:28 PM

Liam -
Were you the guy who said a few words to Vyv in between songs?

Uglyandproud - that was the usual drummer - the guy who playe dth drums at the Borgata (don't know his name) was filling in for Tomo ( I believe Tomo was not there this summer because he had a baby?) Someone correct me if I am wrong.

lgallagher 12-15-2006 09:15 PM

that was me

scrappy, you got it right.

good to meet you?
hehe

Scrappygrrl 12-15-2006 09:19 PM

Well, what did you say to her? Don't leave us hanging, Liam!

I was to your right, behind the really short woman - I was the one who couldn't stop sneezing after Acc Babies.

julia 12-16-2006 03:40 AM

i replied with "it's alright, we're all in a haze as well"

witty banter.
