November US tour
got the feeling we're not gonna get much info/updates... cannot even find the setlist
EDIT: setlist jus added to setlisfm NOV 8 2015 Damien Rice Setlist at Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, Miami, FL, USA The Professor & La Fille Danse Delicate I Remember Elephant 9 Crimes Trusty and True I Don't Want to Change You Volcano It Takes a Lot to Know a Man Encore: Cheers Darlin' The greatest bastard The Blower's Daughter not sure if accurate, only 11 songs??? only 3 songs off MFFF??? |
I had a connecting flight through Miami last night! Totally forgot he was there.
|
He played The Greatest Bastard somewhere in the encore as well.
I just realized they took the 9 album off the US iTunes store. Not sure why they would do that right before a US tour. |

but even if he also played Bastard, that´s a hell of a short set, with zero surprises and mostly old songs...

He's been doing an usual setlist for all this tour I think, with very few surprises, no new song apart from the MFFF ones, no rare old songs apart from requests of Insane and Mustard Seeds or "Truth is not enough" only done once...
I think he's somehow settling on the same setlist... also, being solo on stage doesn't help at all. Sometimes I miss the old times with the band, I think he ws more challenged to change setlists night after now, with always new additions, new covers to play, more new (or old) songs... The only thing that surprises me of that setlist is that it's too short. Not in terms of length of the gig, but he's never done only 11-12 songs, usually at least 14-16. The rest - zero surprises, mostly old songs - there are many gigs like this lately... not complaining at all, but I think we should stop hoping for stellar setlists with lots of surprises... |

such a lovely photo :) (I love the shadow on the smoke)
Gosh, i think he's just playing what he's comfortable with. (And 'being comfortable' is fine, it's just not where the magic happens.) Maybe going through the effort to create a set list would help him to make better choices. It seems that not having one is restricting his choices, rather than giving him the freedom to play whatever he wants. I still think he's a brilliant performer and I adore some of his songs, but I've learned to look for my surprises elsewhere. |
i love reading about surprises and i get certainly excited every time that i listen to anything rare or new that damien may play now and then... but, i think we got somehow spoiled by the little man to the point that we demand for one of those, don´t we?
hopefully, we will hear more of them soon... in the meantime, i hope everyone involved have a great time! lovely pic! |

Miami & Tampa
I saw both shows.
They were indeed unbelievable performances that blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!! |
the 2nd setlist looks much better, Colour Me in and Long Long Way
+ Back to her man was that a request??? How come he played it? |

Let me amend my statement about the Miami & Tampa shows - They were brilliantly magical. Mr. Rice only gets better each time I see him.

The tampa setlist looks a bit more interesting though. Great to see long long way & back to her man in there! |
but jess tell us more!!!! details!!!
|
at least recently he's being playing Grey Room... but I wish he was more adventurous and willing to play old stuff... it's like he only plays oldies/rarities when requested... wish he did it spontaneously and out of the blue play Camarillas or The Animals were gone cos he feels like it... actually I kinda think it might be a bit of laziness from his part maybe?
|
the encore in Miami was definitely Cheers Darlin/Bastard/Blowers daughter
|
Colour Me In, with the small guitar

Miami Times Review of the Damien Rice Concert
Link to the review:
http://www.miaminewtimes.com/music/d...e-time-8038092 As is the norm at every concert, several fans shouted “I love you, Damien!” from the floor. The feeling, however, wasn’t mutual. “I don’t believe that anymore,” he responded. “I had chocolate before I came onstage. I love chocolate. I mean, I love good chocolate. What do I do with it? I eat it up and chew it and take what I need from it and then when I’m done with it, I **** it out.” |
