24 June, Amsterdam!!
Good news for all the Dutchies!!!
Damien will perform in the Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, at 24th June. Tickets are on sale, Saturday 7 april. :hello2: :icon_kidr :hello2: |
Oh no, the Copenhagen gig is the day after the A'dam gig again.. - I hate it when the artists come straight from Holland they're always a little too... relaxed, should we say?.. ;) :D
|
Damn, I hate it that it's in the HMH,... but hey, will still try to get tickets.
Hopefully with more success than in Tilburg... as long as 3FM stays out of it... |
looks like Damien loves the Netherlands ;)
|
I'm sure that's because of the thong guy who makes acrobats on a pole. You can never get enough of him. While smoking..

It's not massive (max. 5.500), but large enough to say that it's not intimate either ;) |
Could have been worse. (Ahoy for example!) The sound is mostly pretty ok. Have enjoyed most concerts I saw in HMH. When I didn't it just was since the bands were crappy. And when you are in time, you don't even notice how may people are behind you. But yes, it is more a band venue than a Damien-venue. Unfortunately the days of Paradiso (when I didn't know him...) are over.
|
Unfortunately...
And we're sorry Cille ;) but Damien with a joint (somebody who can confirm it was a joint in Brussels? ;)) singing Cheers Darlin'... it's wonderfull. So it will be fine then ;) And you can come to Amsterdam... it's only that it's a big venue, but I'm afraid it will be in other countries as well in a big(ger) venue... And I'm happy, although the beginning of July would have been better... it's like Damien touring now... have to finish a big paper this night because I didn't work so hard before (and was away to Tilburg and Brussels to see Damien and later on dreaming about Damien's concerts ;))... |
@ Accidental Baby: ah, I see.. got a point there.thanks!
|
I think he creates a certain intimacy, wherever he performs. I was in Cologne and it felt intimate, although the capacity was 4.000.
The good thing is indeed the quality of the music, it has great acoustics. Well, what the heck, he comes back to our little country. Nowadays he's big..... Maybe too big, but he plays and I'll be there for sure :) |

Just checked out the Copenhagenplace.Looks like that one is 2000 people only. If you are travelling anyways, guess you coul better travel there! And Copenhagen is a really lovely town!
|
I don't know yet if I'll be able to come, I surely hope so :)

That being said, you are very welcome in Copenhagen - if the weather is nice it can indeed be a swell lil' city :hello: |
Great that he's coming back to Holland for the tons of people who had to miss him last week... but the HMH... Terrible venue, so not-Damien. Too big and absolutely no atmosphere...
|
Pfft. HMH. I think I'll just go to Rock Werchter to see him there.
|
HMH is not too bad, I've been there quite a few times and have never been disappointed. It all depends on the artist if they can set the right mood there or not, and when Damien is in good form he definitely has the ability to make the HMH more intimate!
That being said, Vredenburg would have been nicer! |
I am so going to be there. I don't care how big the venue is. All I see is the man on stage singing his guts out anyways.
|
Glen Hansard is playing with The Frames in Utrecht, the day before... 23rd of June... Is he going to be Damien's support act? ;) With Marketa maybe? :) (i'm just hoping...)

that would be legendary :icon_pray |
How about my livingroom :D or backyard :smiley8:
Time changes.... Damien has become bigger, so the venues are also bigger. I have to agree....he's someone you'll see in a small venue, with candles |
i think the venue is really big but it's really nice there. saw there james taylor some years ago and it was really great. so i'm thinking of buying tickets for that show too now. :)
the show in denmark would be lovely to see too though.... |

and it's really weird that there are different ranks, usually it's just free standing/sitting at the HMH. I guess standing tickets will be 42, side balcony 39 and the seats in the back 36? |
I'm not going, waaaay to expensive and I'll see him a week later
|
Wow, indeed expensive, double the price I payed the last time!!!
rang 1, 2 αnd 3??? Something new in the HMH? He can change his sailboat for a motorboat.... Well, I can say what I want, but I'll be there anyway |
Indeed, quite expensive compared to earlier concerts.
I'll still try to get some tickets though. |
I wish my paycheck had this rate of inflation :-s
42 euros is ridiculous... With reservation charges and all it's gonna cost me 50 euros to see Damo :-s |
So, who's the one to blame. The venue, Mojo, Damien's own management?
I'm guessing Mojo... |
It's about the same price in Cph - about 325 dkr incl. extra charges. When he just played here a couple of weeks ago it was 250 dkr, maybe a bit more. And in 2004 it was around 150 dkr. I guess M People were right; "The only way is up" :(
|
very expensive. but still i would love to come to lovely copenhagen
|
Damien is absolutely worth it (better than having to pay a lot for "zwarte markt" tickets) and HMH is not too bad from my experience.
The ranking thing is a bit strange, I have only experienced this when it was a seated concert, because normally it is free entrance to standing and seating in the back. The balconies are always limited to sponsers, like stupid 3FM with all the fuss they made about Tilburg concert I couldn't get through for tickets (Fortunately Kφln & Brussels made my days!!), like they discovered him and all.... But anyways we have to accept that Damien is doing more and more mainstream stuff... but he remains his own beautiful self in all this!!! Here are some more experiences which are very close to Damien Rice for me: - I am going to see Inland Empire tonight!!! Just got out in Holland, totally excited about it. Besides DR, DL is also the man, and both very spiritual oriented... - At Brussels concert I sam Wim van de Keybus, the choreagrapher of dancegroup Ultima Vez, which for me are very close to DR and DL, using a lot of music from 16 Horsepower/Woven Hand. He was very excited maybe in the next Ultima Vez danceperformance, Damien's music.... Sorry for my crap I just had to let it out!!! |

INLAND EMPIRE doesn't come out here untill August:crybaby2:I hope you enjoy it! It's supposed to be really amazing! |
I sent an email to someone of the record company to ask about the ranking... but he hasn't replied yet... I still want to go, but yeah, it's really expensive :( And I guess it's not Mojo, if the price for a ticket was raised so much too (english? ;)) in Denmark...
