Seen this on the Frames website, Claus readers voted on The best 50 Irish albums of all time, and O came third.

You can check the full list out over on www.cluas.com.

There are some very worthy enteries but i think the poll is very much biased towards popular albums out at the moment.Which is the case with alot of those polls.

Maybe its justme butDamien Dempsey's "Seize the Day" at 15 and The Tycho Brahe's "Love/Life"doesnt seem right.

How many of those albums are less than 3/4 years old????

#Ian# 05-19-2004 08:35 PM

Damien definately benifitted from only having one album out. I'd imagine that the frames polled more votes but it was spilt over 4 releases (setlist was eligable), same goes for U2. I knew the top 2 would end up like that, just wasn't sure of the ordering.

er, thats where they got their name from. They're called 'The Tycho Brahe' because theres also an Australian band called 'Tycho Brahe'. Yes there was much confusion with their name at the start but now most people have got the hang of it.

TEE-co BRA-yuh

..is supposed to be the correct way to pronounce it.

i think it's over now, don't worry.

framesaver 05-25-2004 10:28 AM

Yeah, deffo 2 schools of voting going on there:

1. Great albums
2. Bands that are 'in' at the minute

I mean Music In Mouth at No.7? Sorry lads, it's not bad, but better than the Prayerboat at No.24? Er, I think not.

And just because Picture House have become the uncoolest band in Ireland doesn't mean they didn't write a good album once - Shine Box was pretty decent if I remember rightly.

cille 05-25-2004 11:19 AM

why has picture house become the uncoolest band in Eire?

(sorry, i know pretty much nothing about irish music, but i'm still vey curious...)

Sionna 05-25-2004 11:41 AM

Hehe there r playing in my town next weekend.Tickets 12 euro, they r so goin down hill if they're playin in a small town like mine, where nobody is gonna pay attention to them anyway.

cille 05-25-2004 11:45 AM

???

Sionna 05-25-2004 11:48 AM

Dont mind me im sleep deprived, ive had 7 hours sleep in two days,a final exam and a night out last night.I'm shattered!

cille 05-25-2004 03:22 PM

ok...

i'm still curious as to why they're so uncool, though...

nakedlunch 05-25-2004 03:25 PM

Well, they play the kind of music that's used in
advertisements for family stores. At least they write
their own material but, damn, some of it wouldn't
sound out of place on the Eurovision Song Contest,
if you know what I mean.

Gatsby 05-25-2004 03:29 PM

i stupidly went to see them live in the olympia and was completely bored out of my tree... just not my cup of tea i suppose

Uno- X 05-25-2004 03:30 PM

no, sorry, I was talking picturehouse and why they are disliked so much.

Never heard anything good or bad about Whipping Boy but Heartwarm is a really good album.

Charlie 1 2 06-01-2004 08:15 PM
