Let's revive the igloo :)

I noticed the little igloo icon disappeared from Damien's website...
He gave up on us :smiley13:

So let's bring the forum back to live. Facebook is great, but the igloo is less flighty and a great source of information for unreleased stuff.

Claude 08-29-2018 01:55 PM

Yes Carrroline, that's a very good idea !
And i don't have a Facebook page...
:)

carrroline 08-29-2018 02:13 PM

haha... In fairness, you were one of the only ones who never left, Claude :)

I got sentimental for a sec yesterday, but this used to be such a nice place. I'll try to visit & leave nonsense here more often tho ;)

Claude 08-29-2018 02:27 PM

Yes you're right !
I was so happy to find this Forum,
it's such a great place !
:)

I've been trying for the last month or so, started a bunch of new threads, some super long but almost no one replied

Teddie2003 09-03-2018 01:49 PM

Your threads are great.

I'm still sorting out something to put on here for the Palma show last month. Show was great for me, but he seemed "a bit precious" that night.

Much prefer Eskimo to Farcebook stuff anyway!

borneoman 09-06-2018 10:43 AM

theres always looks of people reading the threads but not posting, which is strange to me

borneoman 09-06-2018 10:51 AM

in a lot of threads theres like 800 views, 0 replies
and <I always see theres like 30 people lurking

carrroline 09-06-2018 11:02 AM

I think a lot of those views are just people directed here by google when they search for damien related stuff + it is really hard to get your account verified (I had to wait a couple of weeks or months even back in the day), by the time newbies are able to post, they lost their motivation :-/

borneoman 09-06-2018 12:46 PM

I'm kinda thinking people cannot sign up :/

carrroline 09-07-2018 12:21 PM

and they can't tell us if it doesn't work...

I don't know if it's any indication but the name of the "newest member" at the bottom of the page has changed since yesterday. So people are definitely trying to sign up.

I think so,
because sometimes people (during shows) told me it's not easy to sign up,
they are reading here, but they can't write an answer....
:icon_scra
May be we could write to the "administrator"...

borneoman 09-09-2018 07:30 AM

also some people told me they're signed up but cannot start a thread
but I think thats normal in all forums
I think you got to have like 10 normal posts first or something
like posts replying to people in posts that you didn't start
and then start a new thread

I think it's normal that your first post cannot be a new thread

but not 100% sure

Yes you're right Carrroline,
i checked this, and everyday there are new names in the "newest member"...

I haven’t been here in a while, either. I’m trying to keep up with it all, but I miss the good old days when we only had to check here for everything.

Claude 01-07-2019 08:56 PM

Thanks a lot for writing here InspirationDestination !

I'm guilty of not visiting here in far too long.

Thought the same earlier today and looks like it's all still here, so happy Christmas to everyone.

Any news/thoughts on as and when anything new is hopefully arriving from Damien?

It's over 17 years since I first saw him play live at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth, Hants, UK and about 2 and a half years since the last show I saw in Majorca, hopefully when it's safe to tour again we might see him out and about again.

Claude 12-27-2020 08:33 AM

Thanks a lot Teddie2003 for coming back here again !
I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas time.

Sadly nothing new about Damien...

Is Majorca so far away, (2 and a half years) i was there too.
Can't wait to see him live !

Have a good end of 2020 and hopefully 2021 will be better !

Fingers crossed that 2021 will be better.

Whereabouts were you sat in Majorca? We were in front row of the circle seats 18 & 19, next to us was a blonde lady from the UK who'd been to a few Damien gigs before as well.

I thought that gig was pretty good even allowing for him being a bit precious a couple of times when the audience was being a bit noisy.

Thought the one at Bristol in 2015 was one of the best shows I've seen him do though especially the last song of the night, It Takes a Lot to Know a Man

Claude 01-21-2021 10:25 AM

Yes i hope 2021 will be better...

For Palma i was seating raw D, seat 13.
The show was good but sometimes the audience was noisy, indeed.

Sadly i was not in Bristol.
But i went to Dublin and Cork in july 2015.

Dublin had sold out by the time we decided that we'd like to go to it. Then before we'd finalised going to Galway, the Bristol gig came up and I'd never been to the Colston Hall(as it was then) and it's only a two hour drive to Bristol.

So that made more sense, plus it continued the run of always seeing him a different venue each time we've seen him.

Claude 01-27-2021 01:34 AM

Thanks for the explanations !

It seems Galway was very noisy (audience)...

You were lucky with only two hour drive to Bristol.
And i learned they changed the name of the Colston Hall, because of "BlackLivesMatter".

And it's a good idea to always seeing him in a different venue each time.
