Listen to this

I could make a new thread for each new band/artist that inspires me, but then I'd have to research them (and I am very lazy) :D

I'm always looking for new tunes, so I thought it could be nice to exchange our latest discoveries here :)

I kinda like waxahatchee

And Katie Kim

SisterMidnight 04-14-2015 07:33 AM

New faves

Ryley Walker - really Brit folk reminiscent, but he's from Chicago

Courtney Barnett - kind of punk/singer-songwriter from Australia

carrroline 04-14-2015 01:57 PM

Oh, I love Ryley Walker!
(and I'm going to his gig later this week :) )

SisterMidnight 04-15-2015 01:16 AM

sweet!

eva_arg 04-15-2015 03:13 PM

saw this band during the Coachella webcast and this song caught my attention. They're too poppy for me but I liked that one

this was played on WFUV before Damien's show last week and I thought it was from the 60s! Only today I realized it was released a few months ago :D

I love this thread (and Courtney Barnett)!

Sorry I don't know how to embed!
I'm digging Lily & Madeleine:

And Torres:

And SOAK (going to see her in Boston tomorrow, yay!):

carrroline 07-10-2015 08:28 AM

Oh, that Torres song is great! Thanks!

verenita 07-10-2015 01:22 PM

thanks for all the videos. i´m always rather shy to share music that i really like, but here it is anyway.

lisandro aristimuño - "how long". he is argentinian, he sings in spanish, but i do love the concept of the song... just to focus on things that are really worthy and that we love to do... because they are for free! in opposition to the things that we have to pay for "in order to be happy". i hope you get the idea :p

I discovered Torres by reading this intriguing show review, so after she played here in a teeny tiny cheap bar. **sniff** Still waiting for the time machine to be invented.

i love love this song! and this version in particular :)

btw, it was friendship´s day yesterday in argentina, so, happy day to all my dear eskimo friends :)

Caroline, forgot to ask you how was the Ryley Walker gig. I loved his album this year and I'd love to catch him live, but he's not playing anywhere near me. Might consider a trip to see him somewhere else.

He was great. He's kinda funny and dark at the same time. He's an incredible guitarist and his vocals are powerful. There weren't many people there, so it was almost a private gig :)
He's doing a free gig in Brussels on the 25th of August, so I guess there'll be more European dates around that time.

damien lisa 07-24-2015 01:20 AM

4:22... we met Damien in Iceland last summer in a pool...

verenita 07-24-2015 10:51 AM

those sessions look very cool!

carrroline 07-25-2015 08:34 AM

Jesse Mac Cormack

He opened for Villagers a couple of months ago. He's brilliant.
He also did this, which reminded me of someone else :) (his music is very different though)

Much love for Rachel Sermanni

DesoleInBoston 08-24-2015 04:07 PM

So this band the Bad Books is one of the loves of my life. They're basically the best parts of Manchester Orchestra plus Kevin Devine. Swoon!

carrroline 08-27-2015 01:00 PM

Speaking of big love...
How about this brother/sister duet? :)

(sorry, no idea how to embed bandcamp songs)

carrroline 08-28-2015 05:50 PM

And minor love for Sammy :)

also: it's weekend :hello2::hello2:

Wow that Ryley Walker has a great voice. I'll try to catch him in Chicago. Thanks.

acquadigio 12-16-2015 01:07 AM

my lastest discover, his voice is so soothing

p/s: thanks for all the sharing, wonderful music

carrroline 12-17-2015 10:49 AM

^ Nice. Spotify keeps playing me his stuff.
Haven't given it much attention though.

I've been working on an all Irish playlist for a friend, and so I started listening to some old favourites again: Mick Flannery, Fionn Regan & The Man Whom. (I'm sure that if you copy/paste their names on youtube some nice songs will pop up :p —Sorry, I'm particularly lazy today :) )

--
Edit: okay maybe i shouldn't have been that lazy...

The man whom - over and under (not his best, but maybe the most catchy tune)

Mick Flannery - California (also: read the 'personal life' section on his Wikipedia page, it's hilarious :) )

Fionn Regan - put a penny in the slot
