Taping Time!

The respite is behind us.

I've got NYC, Philly, and DC covered. I know Kentucky and Indy are also covered. And I was told Boston would be covered, but I'm not sure.

But 5 of the next 6 shows I believe will be taped. The rest of the country, you suck.

paulbaptiste 05-22-2007 06:21 AM

damn right. I got some new cardiod unidirectional mics and a battery box with bass roll off just for the indy show. was pretty sure my trusty t-mic couldn't handle the loudness, if patty griffin made my mics a little hot, damien def. would. looking forward to the new boots.

mario_d & paulbaptiste, you need to come north of the border sometime and help us Canadians out ;)

daveydave 05-22-2007 01:25 PM

I've got Boston covered. Hey, is there an opening band this spring. Just don't want to be late.

it really doesn't cost much to get some basic recording gear, you can get a decent minidisc recorder (used ) for around 50 bucks, and a decent mic for around 15 bucks example: Sony ECM-DS70P, you can get on ebay for 15 dollars shipped. just an idea.

Dave, you were my "I'm told Boston would be covered".

Baptiste, didn't know you were taping. I know someone else, who taped a Damien show back in 2004, is doing those two shows. His will be a phenomenal tape.

So then we're 6 for 7 right now, with Columbus as the only unknown.

No opener. He's starting about a half hour after the ticket time (or at least he did in NY).

paulbaptiste 05-23-2007 02:17 AM

mario: what show from 04' did your guy tape, and what mic's do you use. I'm hoping these new ones coming in the mail will make a big difference, this is only my second time taping, thought i'd have to up the anty and get some better mics for damo.. considering how loud his shows can get, bought the battery box w/ the bas roll off.
I really wish his first performance at the murat was taped, everyone sitting around at tables, casual and intimate, regardless will beat the last time at verizon.

mario_d 05-23-2007 02:27 AM

I'm not saying the show, because it's the only one. But trust me, dude knows what he's doing.

Rue Saint-Denis 05-23-2007 03:00 AM

I have one of those regular cheap voice recorders, I don't know if it'll work but I am front row for Atlanta. So, a maybe for Atlanta. :)

the only show he's taped? or you have the only circulated copy? the only reason i ask, because i have began taping, i listen to shows, i collect boots, and certain shows that i am really fond of, i now look at their source info, and see what mics they use, where they were located ect. so i can learn more.
Jon Koch, or Crumbo, for example, i look at their info and see what i need to do.

mario_d 05-23-2007 05:52 AM

When the tape comes out, you'll know who he is.

mario_d 05-24-2007 02:09 PM

FYI, I've been told there is a recording of the oakland show, it will come out at some point.

(Don't ask about it, I know nothing more than that.)

borneoman 05-24-2007 05:31 PM

I was at the Oakland show!! so I'd love to hear that one!!!!! We'll be able to hear Woman like a Man with a tiny bit of Rage Against the Machine at the end!!!!!!!!!!

paulbaptiste 05-24-2007 10:18 PM

just recieved word i won't get my friggin mics in time, he can't mail em out till monday. i know someone else is gonna tape the indy show, but i was very excited to use my gear on damo, all i have are cheapy handheld ****, don't really feel like spending more money locally to find something, already out 150bucks, had to vent with you guys, i wish my daughter was older and knew more words, so i could say "honey, where'd you put daddy's mic"

ahh

mario_d 05-27-2007 03:51 PM

All three shows came out well for us. We ran two rigs in Philly, fortunately, because one of them was awful. NYC is up and the taper is Josh Popejoy, he'll do all the conversions, too. The Philly tape we made was done by Dave Thoma, that should be up within a couple weeks. The DC tape will actually be under my name. Out around the same time as Philly is.

When I spoke about DIME I meant www.dimeadozen.org

For all "DIMErs": do you prefer a double layer (7,1 GB) or a single layer (3,7GB)DVD?

faninor 07-17-2012 05:06 PM

Double layer. Who really burns live recordings to real discs anyway?
