It Didn't Take Long

Hi

Just discovered this song very recently after someone mentioned amd looooooove it!!

I've done and search to try and find some info, but nothing, nada!! Can anyone give some input on the song?? How old is it, is it from the O era or is it a newie newie?

It's really an angry song (eg, opening line "it didn't take you long, did it babe, to learn to sing my song and get yourself laid") so it would fit rather well in album 2, nee?? I was also wondering if he's played it on the recent tour??

Finally, have the lyrics been posted?? I can figure out some parts but not much...

Thanks in advance

Does he really sing "To find a new boy, whose dick you could crave"???

G2020 09-11-2006 09:01 AM

here ya go mate..

It didnt take you long

Well it didn't take you long, did it babe?
To learn to sing my song, and get yourself laid,
No it didn't take you long, did it babe?
Only when I was gone, you are the last of the slaves
And it didn't take me long, to realise
All of your songs were just lies, lies lies
And it didn't take me long, did it babe?
When you find a new boy whose face you could change

Ok, I'm sorry, I'm just a little angry at you
Cause I do it like a quarry,
When you were angry with me
Maybe its not right yeah,
But hell I'm angry with you
It's not another lie but you just not see what you do
It's what you hated in me,
And I was never free enough to

Yeah but didn't take you long, did it babe?
More or less to the rave
Yeah but didn't take you long, did it babe?
The moment I was gone, the masters parade
And it didn't take you long, to tell your friends
How I had done you wrong and just left you in the air
Yeah but didn't take you long, did it babe?
To find a new boy whose dick you could crave

Ok, I'm sorry, I'm just a little angry at you
Cause I dug like a quarry,
When you were angry with me
Maybe it's not right yeah,
But hell I'm angry with you
It's not another lie but you just not see what you do
It's what you hated in me,
And I was never free enough to

it's post-O, I think. I don't like it much.

Does anyone have a copy of this song they can uploa? Hurrah for bitterness!

borneoman 09-11-2006 03:01 PM

Thanks for those lyrics!!!

So regarding time, is the song closer to Accidental Babies/Rain in the Grain/Coconut Skins??? or to BD2, Grey room??

I'm not sure if he played it on the last tour, if he did so, it could be an indication if the song is gonna be on album 2

Welcome back, G2!

Cille must be on temporary crack.:p I think it's one of the most brilliant, raw and painful things Damo's ever done.

Borneo, acually those lyrics had a lot of mistakes in them. (Corrections in bold)

Didn't take Long (a.k.a. "The Munich Song" because that's the only place it was ever played, thus far)Well, it didn't take you long. Did it, babe,
To learn to sing my song and get yourself laid?
No, and it didn't take you long. Did it, babe?
The moment I was gone you're the master of the slaves.
And it didn't take me long to realize
All of your songs were just lies, lies, lies.
And it didn't take me long. Did it, babe?
I want you to find a new boy whose face you could shave.

Ok, I'm sorry. I'm just a little angry at you.
'Cause it dug like a quarry
When you were angry with me.
And maybe its not right?
Yeah, but hell with it I'm angry with you!
Is there not enough light?
Or do you just not see:
What you do
Is
what you hated in me?
Though I was never free enough to.

Yeah, but it didn't take you long. Did it, babe?
I'm all alone in the last step of the race.
Yeah, but it didn't take you long. Did it, babe?
The moment I was gone you're in the masters parade.
And it didn't take you long to tell your friends
How I had done you wrong and just left you in the end.
Yeah, but it didn't take you long. Did it, babe,
To find a new boy whose dick you could crave?

Ok, I'm sorry. I'm just a little angry with you.
'Cause it dug like a quarry
When you were angry with me.
And maybe it's not right?
Yeah, but hell with it I'm angry with you!
Is there not enough light?
Or do you just not see:
What you do
Is what you hated in me?
Though I was never free enough to.

Spoken: "It was about 5 years ago. It's amazing how you hold on."

Well, I'm sure it's very painful to Damien - I just don't feel the pain, the whole story just comes across too private for me. Like, he has a lot to say to this person, but nothing to me - it's raw, yes, but to me it's not so much a song as it is private desk drawer poetry.

I'm not saying it isn't crafted, it just really needs a lot of work. I find a couple of his new songs are like that, and it is too bad - I hope, if they appear on the forthcoming album, that he'll have given them the twist that really makes them worth listening to.

cille....id like some of ur crack please......lol that sounds bad.

i personally love the song.

spamlet, who carse abt the mistakes in the lyrics.

borneoman 09-12-2006 06:31 PM

Thanks Spamlet, agree 100% with your corrections on the lyrics (I also hear 'shave' and 'master of slaves')

Regarding the song I think it's B.R.U.T.A.L. and hope it makes it into album 2!!! So for what I understand, it's only been played once??

Spamlet 09-12-2006 06:55 PM

Cille,

Interesting perspective. It's the opposite for me, since I always feel the most personal things are always also the most universal. Without specificity you get generalization and I find that whenever we think no one will understand it from our viewpoint, inevitably even more people do. Detail is everything.

Pinky,

Obviously I do! If we're not going to get lyrics right then what's the point of posting them? People ask for them because they want to know exactly what the heck's being said in those parts where they can't figure it out alone and I worked a particularly long time deciphering some of the problem spots where the corrections are on that song. Words are a passion of mine so it was well worth it. You have your "I don't like to hug strangers" thing and I have my "making sure all of the poet's words are quoted correctly" deal. No need for judgements. :smiley31::oops: Sorry! Didn't mean to virtual hug ya, stranger! :smiley17:

Born,

Oh, I definitely hope so too if the studio one is just as raw emotionally. Yes, hard to believe but: only played in Munich, Germany on March 7th of 2004.

carvinC980t_kid 09-12-2006 07:15 PM

man, i still need to hear this song!

thanks for the lyrics spamlet!

shyatt3 09-12-2006 07:42 PM

Carvin, I think I got it from the esnips folder that some lovely people here directed me to. Perhaps check that out.

I love this song. the first time I heard it , I was completely blown away by his intensity. It is a extremely raw song, I see Cille point, in that its like a stream of emotion, not perfected, but perfectly expressed..
