(Ok, this Kinda, indirectly, follows on from Ali*'s 'Peaches' topic...) I have this theory where favourite songs don't have that 'ahh that takes me back' feel to them, as you listen to them so often, they no longer transport you back to a chosen moment in the past, whereas other songs immediatly DO have this effect. For example, for me Ben E King ,'Stand By Me' immediatly sends me back to my final day of school, whereas one of my all time favourite tunes, say, 'Not Dark Yet' by Dylan, really has no...err...meaning?!


Anyone agree/disagree/care to share an example of songs and where they take you?

oh i have soooo many songs that remind me of certain times.....'the you and me' song by the wannadies was our song in school...aaaahhhh!

Freaky...thats the other song I was going to put instead of Ben E king, and funnily enough I was listening to it on one of those 'Shine' Compilations last night! Great song!

The dj in this place I used to go out in when I was still in high school, used to play this song a lot, he was always playinga lot of 80's new wave stuff in between , and me and my friends used to love dancing to this song.


Also, completely different, bands like Tool and Deftones and RATM take me back to those days when I was still an angry teenager. [img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]
