Tour in Ireland

Does anyone know when Lisa is touring Ireland again? I saw here in Limerick in October and am looking forward to her next tour. I was like sitting half a metre away from here :0

Wheels 03-19-2009 03:45 PM

No idea. UK tour coming up... They might hit Europe for the summer and come back here later in the year... but that's all just guess-work

Cerque 03-19-2009 08:43 PM

I saw her in Limerick. She was really close to the audience. Like on the same level, not on a stage.

Pure speculation but... there may be a new Ireland date:

Quote:

You won’t find the date on her MySpace yet but if word on the street is to be believed it looks like the Lisa Hannigan date for Kilkenny this summer has been confirmed as Wednesday July 8th in Kyteler’s on Kieran Street. Flicking through the paper this morning it also looks like Cork’s Mick Flannery is set to return for his second gig of the year in the city with a May 29th date (Friday of the comedy festival) in the same venue

she is however definitely playing the electric picnic :hello2:

There are some new dates out there for Ireland:

Jul 05, 2009 Clonmel, IE O'Keeffe's (Clonmel Junction Festival) Presale May 5 @ Noon IST
Jul 07, 2009 Waterford, IE Electric Avenue Presale May 5 @ Noon IST
Jul 08, 2009 Kilkenny, IE Kytelers Presale May 5 @ Noon IST
Jul 09, 2009 Galway, IE The Roisin Dubh Presale May 5 @ Noon IST
Jul 10, 2009 Galway, IE The Roisin Dubh

I hope there'll be some dates between 11 and 14 somewhere not in Galway. If yes, I'll be there. Galway is not ideal for me at that time but if all else fails I might just stay with that.

srahman24 05-01-2009 08:36 PM

Eeep! Looks like I'll be in Ireland at that time! I was thinking of trying to see her and Josh Ritter in Dublin, but this gives me an excuse to see Galway!

Or... excuse my complete lack of Irish geography, but are any of those other dates near Cork? Will have to look this up when I get home.

Thanks for the info Rai!

Thanks as usual, becci!!

mariaoran 07-09-2009 02:04 PM

What's Donough playing there in Brolly Beats?? I could barely listen to the song because i kept staring and trying to figure out what it was....

eamo_rice 07-09-2009 07:00 PM

looks like he's just using a Double-bass bow on the xlyophone. Not sure if that really adds much to the overall sound, but is definitely a little different...

PMF88 07-09-2009 10:50 PM

Yes... he is using a bow to get long, drawn-out notes out of the bells/glockenspiel by running it along each keys' front edge, rather than just tapping. It really puts out an interesting sound live. If I remember correctly from the Gramercy show, it was also on this song that Shane was tapping the bass strings with a metal block. Funny, the two seemed to trade off techniques on their respective instruments for this one.

By the way, I love how the whole band uses more "outlandish" instruments in interesting ways, it really gives the music a whole different dimension than if Lisa had some synth player standing behind her.

The oddest extended technique that I've seen in the last year was at a Sunset Rubdown gig when one of the band played her glockenspiel with a small vibrator.

I think they're crotales - the low anthem use them too.

The first gig in Galway was fantastic! We got a pretty long setlist including My Pirate Disco, Brolly Beats, Couldn't Love You More, Playground Love and pretty much the entire album - along with a few others I don't remember. I've got Tomo's setlist and I'll get that up here later. She said the band also bought some violins that they're practicing on and hoping to add to the shows eventually. And I don't know if it's been mentioned before but Una was playing the little beatbox thing that Little Boots uses (e.g. Meddle) for Keep It All... she even did a little 5 sec riff off Meddle at the end.

Thanks to Becci we got to meet her afterwards and she said they'll probably be headed over to North America opening up for someone in the fall. I'll leave it to Becci to tell her AMAZING story and just leave you with the idea that now Lisa's a big of fan of hers ;)

I taped the whole gig and then.... lost my phone. So, if it turns up in the next little while I'll get that up for you. But I'm not holding out hope.

P.S. It was lovely to meet you Becci and David!

Rai 07-10-2009 10:42 PM

I'm back from today's gig, which just rocked. I say better then yesterday's.

The setlist was:

Venn Diagram
Sea Song
Blurry
Splishy Splashy
Ocean and a Rock
Queen of Hearts (As I suggested the night before :) It's sure nice influencing the setlist :D )
Keep it All
My Pirate Disco
Pistachio
Tom Thumb's Blues
Brolly Beats
Courting Blues
Teeth
Lille

Passenger (completely new song, Lisa solo, playing the mandolin)
I Don't Know
Free Until They Cut Me Down

The crowd was great, we sang Happy Birthday for a roadie and someone else and there was an incident with a button unbuttoning itself that resulted in some lulz.
