Lisa Hannigan quit?
 

Dunno if it's true, but an acquintance of mine (who's close friends with Damien) told me that Lisa quit Damien's band half an hour before the gig in Munich.

What's really strange, too, is that at all those gigs in Germany Damien didn't want the air conditioner to be running ("too loud", he's been quoted) so all those poor people had to stay in a very heated climate which was absolutely terrifying for some. Hence all the sweat...made me wonder as well!! :icon_scra

How trustworthy? Well, it's no joke, that's for sure. The person is not known for jokes about stuff like that. I couldn't believe it either when I first heard it.

Maybe she couldn't stand his moods anymore? Maybe they argued about the air conditioner thingy? Who knows.

I absolutely can't imagine her quitting just like that. I mean, I COULD imagine her quitting the band, but not half an hour before a gig. Maybe they got into a fight, but if so, it could as well be just temporary. I don't believe that. Not until Damien or any of the other band members confirms it.

I wish there was some way to confirm this. I've seen damo with and without her and its just not the same.

I'm in shock. Why this is absolutely insane. If it becomes official it will go up on DR.com, but probably not for a while. If she wasn't at the gig, then it is rather likely. 5 different artists travelling in one bus for an extended period of time is probably very straining. This is really sad. I feel for the entire band.

She wasnt at the show last year. So she HAS to be at this one. Drats. And he was in a terrible mood. I wasnt. hehe I stood thru the whole show and sang along. Sorry to the ppl behind me. hehe

Hopefully not!!!! Maybe a little fight but Lisa cannot quit!!!!! Maybe she was sick... but I read she did the soundcheck, so I guess her voice was ok...

if it is true then it is crazy....

kinda torn by this, i love to hear her voice with damiens and will be quite displeased if she's not at the indy show, but would also love her to go out on her own and release a cd, i wish there could be a happy medium.

I agree that this would be quite an issue. I just don't know what to think about this one. On the "positive" side of things, think of the songs that could come from such a situation....

It would have been pretty improper to cancel a half hour before the gig - lots of people would have been pissed and a lot of money would have been lost. The show has to go on.

In my opinion Damien is Damien, with or without Lisa. I love Lisa, but it's His music and it's Him that draws me in.
Of course Damien would not cancel a show just because Lisa might have quit. He is more responsible than that.
Thirdly this is all gossip.. imo The way you are all carrying on is pretty sad. pfft.

julia, i agree with you, it's damien rice, that's the name on his cd's, that's what we buy, but lisa has been an integral part of that, her voice, her contrast to his is a great part of damien's music, all of these 2 parters, volcano, i remember for example, tell the story from a man and a woman, and she is needed there, i'm sure most of us have recordings where damien does these songs solo, and it doesn't have the same effect, and yes it is gossip, but if it's so sad for us to comment on it, then why jump in?

This should be interesting to watch over the next couple of days :)

i would be surprised if he didnt continue the gig. i mean its a Damien Rice concert, people are going to see Damien Rice, not Damien Rice and band, even tho we all love Lisa and would be upset if she left.
