My god i love that song, but i still cant play it, mainly because I'm afraid to tune the strings just in case the snap on me. anybody have tips for me? anybody actually able to play it?

Why would the strings snap? You're tuning down not up...

They shouldn't snap when putting it in DADGAD. It should be fine :) But don't worry about not being able to play it so well, most of the time even Damien gets a few dead notes when he plays it. It's really awkward.

Tune to open D: DADF#AD. It's a great tuning and it's easy to tune to.

Nine 07-12-2007 08:49 PM

isn't it in DADGAD? rather than DADFsharpAD?
I could be wrong...

Calum 07-12-2007 09:20 PM

I'm 99% certain of it. The notes of Dmajor are D, F#, A. Plus, it just sounds right to me! :)

Ah, i'm probably wrong, I think i just assumed it was in DADGAD because that's a fairly common non-standard tuning. But thinking about it it would be easier to play if it were an F#, so yes, my mistake methinks!

:) I just always relate everything to the piano you see. I'm trying to become more competant at piano and theory.

Nine 07-12-2007 10:18 PM

Ah, how I wish I understood piano.

Keep going! Definitely worth it! I'm lucky i've had some help from my dad, but mostly i've done it myself and i know for a fact that you should definitely be capable!
