Another possible interesting technical glitch
 

Maybe its connected to the white screens (they seem to have lost their effect at least for me, they still appear sometimes after posting but the post is not killed), maybe not, but I have seen on two occasion that when I post a message, my name does not appear as the most recent poster on the overview screen.

This is what I mean:

I posted roughly an hour after Hendrik did and there's no sign of it

Anybody else with similar issues?

I was literally about to post a thread about this. To use your example of the politics thread, supposedly the most recent post is Hendrik's at 1:58pm (my time) but when I click on the thread, Rai's post at 11:43am is the last one to show up. There are other examples too. Strange.

Also, the site's been pretty slow for me lately and I often have to refresh to get to a thread I clicked on, having been presented with a blank white page.

Yes, blank screens are still a problem ... i've been loosing my posts and pm's a lot lately :(

yeah em, tell our hosts to be more.. host-y! it's really slow and glitchy..

makes it pretty difficult to post. the lack of new comment thing seems to happen when you get the white page after you post. i hit refresh it says i posted a duplicate less than 5 minutes ago, i check the main page it's not there, have to go double check the thread, and even though my name's not listed in the forum view it is there :smiley24:

i've also been losing PM's and i'm afraid people will think i'm blowing them off, but in actuality the messages just aren't getting through..

i hated to wait 2 days before i saw any changes on one thread.. i posted and i thought ok it's just a lil slow.. few hours alter still not there.. i come back to the same thread again the next day, and there's replies there, but i see no changes... 2 days later i come back to a full 2nd page of replies.. heh somethings fishy is gong on.

just waiting to hear back from them now, but it will probably be early next week... i'll keep on it until it's back to normal...

Ok, I've changed something now, as recommended by our hosts... Hopefully this will help... Can you notice any difference?

The forum seems to have been running smoother all day. Yay! :D

Well, the American Politics thread still seems to be a bit "disabled"...e.g. it doesn't show the latest posting from the outside (Rai is still mentioned with his last posting).
But then again, hidin' in the dark from time to time is not so bad. :read2:

well, when i go into that thread, it shows Rai's post as the last thread... should there be further posts in that thread that i can't see?

is the forum loading more quickly at all? are people still getting the blank screens?

I've gotten quite a few blanks screens today.

I've not had a blank screen (yet) since the changes... will have to see over the next day or two.

A few blank screens today, and once when I hit the back arrow it brought me back several days ago (this has happened before - it will bring me to a past page, and the topics & birthdays will be different).

It's been loading fast, but I still got a couple of blank screens. (Edit: Just got one while trying to post this :S)

Also, when i was at the index page it showed the lastfm group thread as the last thread that had a post . But when i clicked on the everything else section, the thread wasn't even there... This was early today, its all fine now.

It seems that after a few days of apparent healing, the symptoms are back. At least for me. Slowness, white screens and all (maybe a bit less frequently, I'm not sure). Many new posts don't register as new posts and don't get highlights or mentioning at the 'New Posts' search page.

Can't it be that the Igloo has grown too big and the present setup is struggling with it?? The statistics on the bottom say we have 340.000 posts in 15.000 threads and 10.500 members... (is this last number correct??? It's huge)

i tried to post a reply several times yesterday and i couldn't

I had a period of getting white screens and slow loads yesterday too... Has anyone noticed if it happens at a particular time of day or anything?

^I'll start monitoring my activities and document the time of browsing, posting and other things

for me it happened during the morning my time. i'm 6 hours behind GMT

and now? please let me know if the problems are continuing. it seems very fast tonight so hopefully it will stay that way... i will keep working with our hosts until it is back to normal...

hi, thanks for tying to solve the forum problems... but they seem to continue since Mitten isn't able to excess the forum at all for a while now...

^yes, that's when she told me that she hasn't been able to excess the forum for a while...

Strange... maybe that was part of the old white screen issue... hopefully she'll be okay now.

it seems to be working ok for me, but i will keep working with the hosts to see what we can do.

it was way better a few days ago when i logged on, really fast and not too many glitches. but today it's been pretty bad. keep getting blank screens constantly or the "server was reset while the page was loading" message.
