Laura Marling's new album - oh, its right good!
I wasn't a fan of Laura Marling's previous work, but her latest album (once I was an eagle) is seriously good. Very reminiscent of the doors at times and has totally blown me away. Think I prefer the second half, however the first is growing on me. Might be worth a listen...
Edit Apologies if this has been mentioned before. I haven't been in the igloo for a while and have a lot of catching up to do! |
I absolutely love her. OIWAE is quite a solid album. I think there's a new one on the way though. :)

I love her too.

I loved the first album, but then didn't like the second one and lost interest in her... I listened to some song from the latest album and liked what I heard, so I probably should listen to the whole thing.

I know quoting myself is lame, but there is a new album coming up. March 2015 :) This new song is fantastic |
I didn't know her music very well, but I went to her concert in Brussels last night (pics :)). It was very impressive! She's very talented.
So, should I listen to the old stuff first, or start with the new album? :) |

Her sound changed a lot from her first albums. I think the first one is probably the one I listen to the least, but it's a great experience to go through her discography in order, when you feel the album you're listening to is better than the previous one :D Some of her new songs sound so much better live, though. |
Thanks Eva!
hmm, maybe I'll start with the first one then. :) |
I've actually started with Laura a few months ago and I have to say I like the first one the best. But maybe when I grow into the next one, I'll like it more and so on :D

Seen her a couple of times live, on the UK Cathedral tour at Exeter, which was fantastic and earlier this year at Southampton Guildhall when she played a lot of the new Short Movie album. I was a bit apprehensive about seeing her at Southampton as it's an awful venue for sound, saw the Manics there and it sounded like James had his head in a bucket when he was singing!!!! In the last 10 years or so I've usually avoided anybody who plays there and will catch them by traveling to another venue instead. But Laura was great even though she was "more electric" than we were expecting, it was just a pity she was playing such an awful venue and not playing at Brighton Dome or Portsmouth Guildhall.
