so this thread may die quickly but it's worth a shot...

with many songs (both live and album versions) from all many artists i always find myself loving some little insignificant parts to a song and i love hearing about those little details that other people notice that really take the song to a new level for them...

my example to share is when damo plays prague live and shane is doing that little high pitched part on the bass that sounds like "ding dong ding dong ding dong"... that thing that shane is doing sounds so perfect and adds soooo much to the song for me...

_dylan_ 05-25-2004 04:19 PM

i have to agree with u buddy.

that song as a whole is soo awesome!

i love the bit in 'Amie' on the last chorous wen Damien sings high instead of normal. send shivers down my spine every time!

i think i look for the whole atmosphere of a song... like the very beginning of 'delicate' on O - it's like there's so much 'space' in between the notes and the beats, it sounds like the song is breathing in a way. maybe it's a withheld breath, really...

this was the very first damien song i ever heard; i downloaded a snippet of it from the official homepage - it's really just like ½ minuteof it - and it didn't take any more than that for me to fall in love; i could sense the greatness and intensity of the music in that intro.

God yeah me too!

I also love the cello bit in blowers daughter when it starts getting all twiddly - if you know what i mean!

Oh and lisa's ave maria in baby sister.

Cali 05-25-2004 05:29 PM

I love that part in The Blower's Daughter, the Jools version, whenright after the sencond part of the song he screams and goes "Hell I don't know" and then goes quiet again. That's amazing.

here's another from me:

song: i remember
part: when damien says the word "hear" in the line "i wanna heeeear what you have to say about me" and the whole band kicks in... INTENSE!

Song: Girl that does Yoga

I love the part in the version I have (thanks to yahoo briefcase) where he sings 'and walks away..'

Its near the end of the song (2mins 40secs) and he sings really loudly and the sound vibrates the microphone. Its brilliant. You just know he's really into the song, and thats what its all about...

nicethat's the kind nit-picky detail i'm talking about... just listened to it... good stuff... you know he has his eyes closed and can't tell how close he is to the mic and just lets it ring

~Aoife~ 05-25-2004 07:11 PM

Play it loud and its a zillion times better! [;)

ps. I love this thread, brilliant idea Corey! Edited by: ~Aoife~

We had a thread about this before. Butit was about so many different bits in different songs, ranging from OutKast to U2.

Cant remember the name of the thread...Edited by: daol20

daol20 05-25-2004 07:33 PM

Found it...

Best 15 - 30 secs of music

daol20 05-25-2004 07:40 PM

I love the bit in Nine Crimes, when he goes a bit mental at the endwith the lines:

Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with u?
Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with u?

daol20 05-25-2004 07:42 PM

And the opening section to "Delicate" both the guitar bit and the first line: "We might kiss when we are alone"

mestonf 05-25-2004 07:43 PM

hey my best is Damo on the "Live from the Union Chapel 8 track thingy
Track:Delicate
It is when Damo goes quite mad at the end and his voice projects so well i have never heard it like that. The Cello is really prominant and Lisa sings really spooky harmonies over the top. The music at that point is sooo intense.

Miss Pink 05-25-2004 10:43 PM

Livo 05-26-2004 01:35 PM

song: I Remember

part: i remember December.....</span>always
gets me to thinking about stuff like i wonder what happened that
december, and you can feel it in his voice that it was cold and harsh
and unforgiving, etc.

and i know this was meant to be just for damien songs but i couldn't resist....

band: The Frames

song: Fitzcarraldo

part: i shall eclipse here....</span>it's always been my favourite part because then colm's violin comes in screeching....so class

ali* 05-26-2004 01:38 PM

ooooooh the violin bit!!!!!! *sigh, has fitzcarraldo moment*

nakedlunch 05-26-2004 01:45 PM

At the end of 'Cheers Darlin' when he cries 'What am
I' and holds the 'I' note as all the instruments erupt
from the background. It sounds like an explosion.
Sends a shiver up my spine.

Uno- X 05-26-2004 01:49 PM

on I remember " and I , I whip myself with scorn SCORN (this bit).."

nakedlunch 05-26-2004 01:54 PM

Yeah, that part has a similar kind of emotional feel
as the 'Cheers Darlin' ending. It's like, 'f*ck this, I'm
gonna let loose'.
