Grey's Anatomy

So on the news page I mentioned that '9 Crimes' would be featured on 'Grey's Anatomy' on ABC (in the USA) tonight, but it seems that it might be on next Thursday instead...

Please post here if anyone's watching and hears '9 Crimes'.

Thanks

Something Damien-related? Getting delayed? That can't be right, can it?

I can't believe that he is selling out and having his music on that show. I can't go a day without hearing someone bring up Grey's Anatomy and somehow they relate it to any situation, it drives me insane.

It's far from the first time that Damien's music has been used in a TV show...

borneoman 11-16-2006 04:47 PM

Is there a way to find out for sure when it's out? I went to abc.go.com and then to the Grey's anatomy site but you can only check which songs were played in old episodes, not on the ones still to be aired...

I hope they play it in full!!! Would be great if it was in the last sequence, then they usually play the full song!!

yesterday they used David Gray's The Other Side during this new show Day Break, and the other day they used Ray Lamontagne's Shelter during Brothers & Sisters!!

Nine 11-16-2006 04:55 PM

when delicate was played on Lost, i was exceedingly happy.

my two favourite things in the whle world all merged together. yay :D

droovin 11-16-2006 05:25 PM

i'll be watching it later so i'll check. it's going to be a hella good episode anyways

unless

this is tonight as in the U.S., and we won't get the episode for a while

Wheels 11-16-2006 05:39 PM

It is the US episode droovin. But we'll get to see it eventually.

Not sure I'm following you.

Anyway, I think it's great that "9 Crimes" is being featured on a mainstream drama that's well recieved and critically acclaimed. Just because it's popular too doesn't automatically make it anathema.
I don't happen to watch the show, but I still think the exposure is good for Damien, and good for the new album. And "9 Crimes" is a great song. I too was thrilled when "Delicate" was featured on Lost, even more than when "Blower's Daughter" and "Cold Water" were featured in "Closer."

I really think you're stretching to say Damien's "selling out" by having his music featured on Grey's Anatomy. I mean, come on. Now, if he were being featured on a crap show like "Wife Swap" or something, that would be different. :D

Wheels 11-16-2006 05:52 PM

Dwahvel, Droovin is in Wales... so is seeing an older episode of Grey's Anatomy tonight than US viewers are.

I don't want to get in a discussion about TV shows, but in my book those two shows are on about the same level, which is why I am dissapointed it will be on "Grey's". I agree this is a good chance for exposure, which I'm sure is exactly why they are doing it. Having your brand new single on the number one rated show is only done for one reason.

Wheels 11-16-2006 06:13 PM

This may be a crazy idea... but couldn't the show's musical director or whatever have decided to use it without referring to Heffa/Warner? Can a show not chose any song once they credit it and pay the royalty?

borneoman 11-16-2006 06:15 PM

I loooove Grey's from day one!! I'm on Meredith's team!!! And it has really clicked with a lot of people, it started very shy, on Sundays at 10, then this year they moved it to the best spot of the week, Thursdays at 9, and now it's the most watch show on TV, something like 25 million people watch it... so that's quite a potential audience for Damien!! it's the new way to promote music which never gets played on US radio stations which only playlist Beyonce and 50 cent... And they always play great music on Grey, there are even 2 soundtrack albums out!!

mickey13086 11-16-2006 09:26 PM

I need to know whether or not it will be on the episode tonight cuz I want to watch it but i have a intramural floor hockey game at 9:45 and the show is from 9-10. and if its on tonight i imagine it would be on at end...the last scene ...so im conflicted. anyone know for sure?

borneoman 11-16-2006 10:15 PM

Tonight's episode will be re-played Fri 8pm so if anyone misses it tonight, you can watch again tomorrow. Also it will be available online tomorrow at abc.go.com

/minor rant

i'm told that it's next week, the week of thanksgiving i believe...

but, newsweek originally reported that it was this week... so i have a little doubt, but i expect it to be next week.

mickey13086 11-16-2006 11:50 PM

thank you!

borneoman 11-17-2006 01:18 AM

I was thinking that if now it's 6pm Pacific time, it must be 9pm in the East coast. Anyone watching????????????????????

mickey13086 11-17-2006 01:19 AM

I'm watching it ...no sign of it yet...but I have to leave at 945 so I might miss it. I will ask a friend who is watching and update ya after the show unless you don't want to know.

Got to agree with Wheels here. From your post, it sounds like you're saying that Damien and the band went out looking for exposure and asked the producers of Grey's Anatomy if they would use the song. In reality, these things are virtually ALWAYS the other way round, even assuming that the artist is involved with the decision making process at all...

borneoman 11-17-2006 01:35 AM

Check this website:
http://hollywoodrecords.go.com/greysanatomy/

There's a blog from the music coordinator and it's like he chooses the music that will fit in the show as Wheels said. IMO the music they play in the show is always great and I have already discovered new artists thru them, like this Kate Havnevik for instance, worked for me, got her album because I heard her songs in the show...

A Lonely Soldier 11-17-2006 02:05 AM

hmmm no 9 crimes on tonight's episode. it must be on next thursday's episode.

HugeAmericanFan 11-17-2006 02:21 AM

I could have sworn that I heard a small clip of 9 Crimes towards the end when Callie was talking to George's brothers? Maby I am wrong but it sure sounded like it? It was a very small clip, nothing lasting more than 30 seconds. Maby I am wrong though?

Windgirl 11-17-2006 02:21 AM

just finished watching no 9 crimes, however I think Regina Spektor may have been used it sounded like her in any event.

coffeebean 11-17-2006 04:12 AM

haha that kinda spoils the show, because with a song like 9 crimes i'm going to assume that someone is going to be unfaithful. but hey it's grey's anatomy, what's new? i can't get enough of it, i've been watching it since day one.

borneoman 11-17-2006 05:11 AM

No, it was not played... I guess it didn't fit well in today's episode, in which basically nobody was cheating... probably next week will be more appropiate!! Next week's episode looks promising!!

srahman24 11-17-2006 09:17 AM

Nope, definitely no Damien on tonight's show. This is what was played:

Not Big by Lily Allen
Everybody Get Movin' by Get Set Go
Time Of My Life by The Watson Twins
Where We Gonna Go From Here by Mat Kearney
Breakable by Ingrid Michaelson
God Bless The Child - Miranda Bailey (character on the show)

Oh well, now I'll just have another reason to look forward to next week's episode!
