here's just a little on what i think the album is about, anyone else add there's ?

Delicate - damo is with a girl (blowers daughter) and wants to keep the whole thing a secret because of it being ruined

Volcano - i'm going in with this one as volcano being the mother/power over the girl telling damo her daughter is not old enough for relationships and to stop dreaming

blowers daughter - he goes to explain it all to her that he can't stop thinking of her, but that they just can't have love, even though he wants it to be

canonball - damo's heart ache for this girl and the reflections

older chests - looking at life in a bigger picture that everyone suffers problems and all you need is time to get over things

amie - amie is french for friend, (and from one of the stories i've read) this friend is someone damo used to just go sit with and not really say anything, but she would allways make him feel better when he was down

cheers darlin - damo gets talkin to a girl in a bar and because he's looking for love again he's allready thinking of love/marriage, but then she starts talking about her fella and he just breaks down and questions her whole motive

cold water - feelings of depression, (cold water being life surrounding him and that he is in too deep) and the fact he still loves the blowers daughter (love ones daughter can youallow me that)

i remember - he just keeps goin round in circles like people do when they are in love, he looks back at the past, so he's is writing in the mind of this girl about him meeting her (possibly she spoke to him and said she still wants him, but it's forbidden love which inpisred him to write this) then he writes from his side out of anger thinking she is just using him to play mind games and that's it not love n that he wants to get rid of the feeling.

eskimo - he makes another attempt at forgetting her buy going to see his eiskmo friend (who aparently is someone in finland) and wants his help and advice

that's just my whole story of the album, prob wrong, but it's how i like to this of it

the blowers daughter is the daughter of the person who taught damo how to play the clarinet and basically damo fancied his daughter. hewas taught how to play the clarinet by a perso who could 'blow' into a clarinet, hence " the blower" and he fancied his daughter hence the "daughter" put them 2gether yu get "the blowers daughter". Damo sent that girl a free ticket to one of his concerts addressed to the blowers daughter.how sweet is dat???

i have a theoryof delicate.damo liked a girl alot, and they sangleonard cohen's hallelujah together and he loved that song, and her singing it with him made him feel a lot better about their relationship if you know what i mean "And why do you sing Hallelujah"and itbecame apparent thatit meant more to him than it didher and they broke up. "So why do you fill my sorrow, With the words you've borrowed, From the only place you've know....If it means nothing to you, Why do you sing with me at all?" so he was dissapointed. also the line "We might live like never before, When there's nothing to give, Well how can we ask for more" meaning the relationship was great in his eyes, but it then became complicated and was not the same.

hallelujah is a consistent cover of damo and is a big cohen fan. sorry if that was confusing, its harder to type than explain by mouth.

i prefer not to settle on any particular story, but i really enjoyed reading yours

oooh, i've always had trouble singing that verse cause it didn't make too much sense to me- that's a good interpretation, thanks!

Donsie B! 09-13-2004 07:21 PM

..curoius and curoisuer!

kiddrinkingfire 09-13-2004 07:55 PM

what about Prague?

anyone know?

Hannah650 09-13-2004 08:26 PM

ooh this is very interesting!

pamela 09-13-2004 08:29 PM

um , nowi may be slagged for saying this but i think that ...

damo's in love with a girl , who is going with him to prague , to meet someone who she's secretly in love with, but damien knows ...

Colbarr 09-13-2004 09:08 PM

dats a good analogy( i dont no if dat word works in der but it makes me seem intelligent)

Krystian 09-13-2004 09:58 PM

nice interpretations

shane_b 09-13-2004 10:26 PM

yeah analagy is a pretty genius word :P, took me a long time to realise what i thought about "o" cos it's not very often u get an album that just makes sense, but you have no idea why it makes sense, n i'll probally spend my whole life trying to figure out the album, which is why it's a classic

SilentNight 09-15-2004 01:28 AM

interesting interpretations.

Aime 09-15-2004 08:00 PM

hmm... thats a good interpretation of prague OR he could be in prague with this girl he really likes and her "friend" who he finds out when they're there is a bit more than a "friend" so he spends the whole time feeling bummed out and like a third wheel...

also "cheers darling" as he said at his gig was he bumped into this amazing gorgeous fabulous girl and got talking to her and they were getting on really well and then after a while she was like "sh*t! i'm supposed to be meeting my boyfriend at the other side of town" and then damien gets all sad (bless his little cotton socks) and so she gives him three cigarettes to smoke his tears away and then he goes home and writes a song about it

volcano - is when this person really likes you and is kinda chasing you and your like "ok i dont like you in that way" so then you end up kissing them and your like "ah crap what have i done" and everything's messed up but then you meet someone new who you really like but they have no time for you - so basically its the reverse of the relationship between the first person... "i kissed your mouth and back is that all you need" it does make sense... i think!

aime- is a friend of his who he really liked and one day when he was feeling pissed off went to her and she told him to stay the night in her house and he'd feel better. so he went to her house and was sleeping in her room (she was sleeping in her sisters room) and he wanted to go into her but couldnt think of a reason why and then he saw a shooting star but thought that she'd think he made it up so eventually he went into her room and simply said "nothing unusual, nothing strange, close to nothing at all"

older chests - just pretty much about time passing by etc etc

its amazing how much i remember of that night (lol... i remember) i'm sure his little stories change pending on his mood and audience but thats what he said so.... erm... i cant think of any other thingies he said... canonnball... oooh... oh i cant remember... oh well!!

those are really good interpretations though... well done to y'all i like the active imaginations we have going on!!

This interpretation of Aimee sounds a lot like that little cartoon "The pissed off story"

idiosynful 09-16-2004 01:30 AM

I <3 that cartoon! even if I can't see how Amie and it sort of intertwine. Every time I hear Amie I always analyze it differently. It's the beauty of the album.

Shazne 09-16-2004 04:08 AM

He told us in Dublin that amie was about erm...pleasuring himself.....and also Me, My Yoke and I......dirty boy

Milo 09-18-2004 02:50 PM

I could be completely wrong here but someone told me the other day that Mic Christopher had a daughter or a sister called Amie and that's who 'Amie' is written for

Can anyone shed any light on this?Edited by: Milo

Jgrg1984 09-18-2004 05:48 PM

damo says the aime story that aime wrote a few posts above, not sure if it is mic christophers daughter. also aime and woman like a man are about the same girl

Aime 09-18-2004 07:36 PM

that'd be so cute if it was about mic christophers daughter...

i love me my yoke and i - i just love the music and the way he kinda does the slide on the guitar its just... amazing! *sigh*

the great thing about damien is he lets people interpret his songs any way they want! unlike a certain mr w.b. yeats whom i hate with a passion!!!! GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR!!! i hate 5th year english!!!!

Donsie B! 09-18-2004 07:40 PM
