Gd question. ALso whats that thing he uses to repeat things. He always does it live, especially at the end of I remember. Its like he puts tyhings on a loop?

PenguinBoy 08-30-2005 09:45 PM

i've never been to his gig, but it sounds like ur talking about echoplex

PenguinBoy 08-30-2005 10:01 PM

http://www.superpage.com/riffs/desc_..._echoplex.html

that's how they used to do it in the good ol' days^ and i know that john martin did it in the good ol' days. I've been wanting one for ages, but i don't know whether damo uses the actual thing, or whether he uses a digital pedal to synthesise it.

they seem quite hard to get ur mits onto, and they're pretty expensive. But still... i want one :(.

More commonly known as Live-Loop recording, there's many ways to do it, buy setting up a pedal to start the recording, another push to stop. then another pedal to start it playing. That's how Joseph Arthur did it anyway at his live gigs. I could ask my friend the sound engineer if he knows anything of it.

he uses a Line 6 DL4 for looping i think

this has been discussed before though, il try and dig up the old thread, it had a picture of his pedal set up and all. from what i remebered it included a Vox Wah, some RATs, a Marshal Distortion, some line selectors and the DL4

you could also use a digital delay to loop things

*Killian* 08-31-2005 08:19 PM

yeh but as far as i know, the BOSS DD6 only has 5 seconds of looping time, the DL4 is a delay modeller with i think around 15 seconds.....or you could use a dedicated loop station like the BOSS RC-20 which has like a monsterous 16 minutes

anyways, heres his pedal set up:

What a lucky man he is! i spent about an hour in the guitar shop looking at all the beautiful acoustics, but just bought some strings because i HAVE NO MONEY.

Oh penguin! I forgot to post, I've been busy, but there was a really cheap working echoplex on ebay.

Damien's Pro Cro rat he uses is on sale at musiciansfriend.com and the stock is limited!

eoin hally 10-20-2005 12:38 AM

would he have to use something in the pa to stop feedback from using those distortion pedals with an acoustic,
whenever i try to use pedals with my acoustic i just get feedback

#Ian# 10-20-2005 03:02 PM

Make sure that you don't face the amp you're using, that should cut down on the feedback
