I heard it as 'my favourite face'?
|
yes, i hear face too
|
I don't hear face... to me it sounds more like haze, but face makes more sense.
|
I missed it premiere on BBC radio. Is the youtube clip the entire song? Consequence of Sound is saying it is...

no no that´s just a clip, the whole thing is like 6 min long
|
Just got the digital download sent to me from the pre-order. Simply. Wow.
He is back, friends. |
I tried to transcribe the lyrics. I know, like many of you I am sure, the lyrics are so incredibly important to the experience. Please help correct this if you are hearing something different (especially after the 5:00 mark lol)

thanks for the lyrics :) |

It's absolutely gorgeous. I was thrown off by the falsetto at first, but I got sucked into it so quickly. I love this as the first album. The instrumentation is so incredibly awesome. Is that wurlitzer? I may explode with excitement. Also, I'm new here.

Nice of them to email it I didn't think we'd get a download so quickly.
|
Feels like the track would fit into the movie her perfectly. Side note after looking at the trailer when the computer finishes loading it says O on the screen.
|
Thank you for transcribing the lyrics, Cremallero. It does get harder to understand at the end there.. I love the whole dreamy ambience of the song, and I agree, the lyrics are always so important.

^ thanks, melissa... i really meant "damien", as i know we all are enjoying already ;)
also, i know you are a lady... beautiful one indeed :) (i rememeber your profile pic on myspace... wow! ages ago, hehe). |
it´s even charting :)
My Favourite Faded Fantasy (the song) at #71 now on UK Itunes and the album pre-order up to #32 :) |
Listening for the first time now. I love his voice singing that high, so flawed and emotional and beautiful. I kind of wish he'd leave the strings behind. Great dry drum sound. Looking forward to hearing it for real, not in a low-quality stream, when the band kicks in at the end it all sounds too compressed. I have not been overly excited about this release news, I guess it's been too long or something, but I am definitely hopeful and looking forward to hear the whole thing now.

Also available on Amazon. Man, I'm lost for words. It's a little different to what i was expecting - he's quite chirpy!! Its been so long. Am I ready to have my heart abused musically?! Hell yes! Also the words are incredibly relevant to me atm. Hurry up November...

OK, I'm declaring today a full on DOD - Damo obsessed day! You know how you attach memories and people to songs...well Damien's music is very much entwined with my hubby and I stopped listening to him (and hubby!) when we separated about 3 years ago. Hearing 'my favourite faded fantasy' has promoted me to dig out all the old favourites for the first time. Its emotional to say the least, but I've missed that rawness that gets me every single time. I'm currently working my way through the St Luke's videos...'woman like a man'...I'd forgotten how that song does things to me!!
|
It doesn't sound mixed or mastered correctly...anyone else feel the same ?
The vocals in the first two voices are so much louder than it is when the drums come in. The vocals then take a back seat and get drowned out by everything else as it goes on. 5:29 seems to be squashed and nothing really stands out, sounds like it's working the compressor lots and the track becomes flat. Love the song, but something isn't right to me |

Love dissolve the bloom Always watch it dim But for the third line, thus far I can only make out part of it: Never lets a (or some) heart (or art) ___ ____ The closest words I could come up with based on the sounds I hear is "core" and "obey" (or maybe "beg") which is nearly poetic enough to work. Of course it could always be "Never laid some hardcore babe" too (although I doubt it since we know Damo's certainly had quite a few of those.) :p I never loved another like you etc. etc. I haven't listened carefully enough to the whole thing but I also believe I heard a "what it all could mean" interspersed in with the "what it all could be" parts. So they may alternate throughout. |
I'm not too keen on the new song, mostly because of the falsetto, I guess. (But then again, the 2006 record "9" never quite clicked with me as "O" did, either)

Speaking of Rubin: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/cor...ith-him-again/ :D |
So I spent all day being bothered by this and not being able to figure out and FINALLY remembered what song it is that the end of this one reminds me of: "Uncomfortable," the duet with Melanie Laureant.
I might also be completely insane, but the two compliment each other (to me) and I could see the ending of MFFF playing out a little like the end of Uncomfortable when played live. |
^that´s what I´ve been telling everybody, that it reminded me of the songs with Melanie... I particularly thought it reminded me of the other one, Everything You´re Not Supposed to Be
chartwatch: the single is #58 in the UK itunes, the album pre-order at #27 :) the thing is Damo´s profile is better than ever in the UK mostly cos of X Factor constantly playing his songs in the last 3 years, he´s probably more famous in the UK now than in 2004 :) in the US itunes the single is #231 and the album, pre-order at #40 PS now streams do count towards the charts, so if you listen to the single on Spotify, you contribute to the charts! in a way, it´s like buying the mp3 on itunes :) new times... |
So many old faces back at the igloo!! I'm not sure on the falsetto either, but overall I really like the new song. And I'm beyond excited for the new album!

I was tempted to get the limited edition wooden cover, but 30 euro with 15 delivery, i think i'll pass.
Why doesn't he just strike a deal with Apple and release it for free like his buddy Bono. ;) |

I'm so happy that Damien has finally achieved this album! I've pre-ordered the whole Deluxe Box set and listened the single as many of you and I have to say that I was very surprised by his voice first (sometimes I couldn't help thinking about James Blunt... :p ), so high and fragile in a sense but that's great and change is good too but I really wait for songs with wilder tones, less clean, the way I prefer Damien. What I've loved the most in this song is the richness of the music, he put everything in it and it's so beautiful, every instrument finds its place and at the end it sounds amazing! So glad and proud that his talent shines like that at the first song as we know singles from most artists and bands are not often best songs.
Thanks a lot for posting the lyrics, my limited english gave me only an idea of the meaning of this song, now I can totally dive into it! :love7: |
Nice to be back again. I must say I enjoy the alternative version a bit more with the deeper voice.
|
I'm so super excited for His new album ! Cheers to all the eskimo friends
;-) |
Only 5000 limited edition boxsets? Oh please oh please oh please be available next Friday! I cannot fork over $50 right now.(And I'm willing to skip the gas payment to get it.;o))
|
Consequence of Sound rated it the #1 song of the week. I like that blog and generally think they know what they are talking about. I couldn't agree more about MFFF.
|
Here's a first attempt at the chords of the song. Any corrections, lyric- or chordwise, very welcome. :-)
