Hello all,
Was at the concert last night, can't tell you the setlist because i didn't write it down. it started with "The Professor/La fille danse" (with a funny exagerated hiccups just after "finish it off with some french wine"). There was a word for Lisa at the end of the show, something along the lines of "I would like to dedicate this evening to lisa, i wish her all the best" (not 100% sure, though). There a Bob Dylan song played with the Magic Numbers, for which it was the last date as a support act... Vyvienne also played a song called "Random on the motorway". Damien played a new, and very good, "Brel-like" song (he explained that a French friend of him told him that only Brel can sing a Brel song so Damien wrote a song with a Brel feeling!). The good (best?) part was after the Dylan song with the Magic Numbers, when, all of them still on stage, they started drinking red wine and smoking and Damien introduced "Cheers Darlin'" with the real story of where it came from. Both bands were performing the song, with the 2 gals from the Magic Numbers doing the piano... Damien finished with new lyrics thanking the Magic Numbers and thanking PAris for a wonderful night... Which it was. :) PS: Damien also mentionned his m*sturbation habits when he was around 12... all that in French, it was fun. :) |
Hello everyone !
I was there too, and I enjoyed it very much ! I have to precise some things : I think Vivien song is called "Random man on the motorway", and she said it has never been released before. And the Brel-like song is called "If you leave me now". I remember Damien played it at La Cigale in 2004, so it's not "new" ;) I'll post the setlist later, once I have listened to my recording of the show (but the quality is very bad, so I'm counting on Manu to make a boot). |

And i hope he does a nice Brel song in Brussels, afterall Jacques Brel was born in Brussels. |
Oh well, "If you leave me now" was new for me, anyway! ;)
It was indeed "Random man on the motorway"... Oh and Damien also did an a capella version of "Cannonball" - no mic - like he had done an a capella version of "The blower's daughter" at Le Trianon... I was actually very very sad at the end of the show because... well because it was over and we're gonna have to wait another year and a half (at least) before we see him again... |
A
He's playing at L'Olympia in July... But I won't be able to go there.
I may have a recording of what he says about Lisa, but I can't figure out how to cut a .wav file. Audacity doesn't recognise it. Anyway, here is the playlist : 01. The professor & La fille danse (with new lines at the end) 02. Older chests 03. Volcano 04. Elephant 05. Intro + Rootless tree 06. Cannonball (unplugged) 07. Coconut skin 08. Woman like a man 09. The Blower's Daughter 10. Random Man on the Motorway (Vyvienne & John) 11. Delicate 12. Talk + Me, My Yoke & I 13. I remember 14. Fool 15. 9 crimes 16. Bob Dylan - I shall be released (with the Magic Numbers) 17. Cheers Darling (with wine, the MN & new lines at the end) 19. The animals were gone + Sleep don't weep I wasn't able to hear what was the 7th song. Does anyone remember what song it was ? (I think it was on the last album) And I didn't know what Bob Dylan's song they played. |
|
Oh yes !!!

It's called "Fool" not "If you leave me now"

And what about this "If you leave me now" song? I've never heard of that one. Or do you mean "Fool"?!? Fool also sounds quite like Brel, doesn't it? edit: ah, okay, so it IS "Fool". |
I listen the boot before cut it ... and it's very very good in sound ...
i wil try to prepare a release during this week ::: |

And for the Lisa thing, i didn't hear very well what he said, but it sounded pretty much like what drou wrote. I was wondering for the entire show why she wasn't there, and Damien said that at the end of the show, in the middle of "Sleep don't weep". It really sounded like Lisa's not coming back, at least for a while... |
Song n°7 was "Coconut Skins" I think
|
OoOooo THANKS Olive!!
And Manu.. HUBBA HUBBA!!!!! My Eskimo friends are the BEST!! xoxo |
The dylan song was "i shall be released" ;)
