I've noticed that Cannonball is being spun frequently on all the local and regional radio stations (well the local Cork stations anyway). I hear the remix about 5 times today! It's in 96fm's 'Top 20'.
I never really thought the day would come when it would be so widely received on such a mainstream level. This remix has obviously achieved what the record company, or management or whoever was pushing the remix set out to do.
I know that all this exposure can bring its down sides, they've all been discussed a million times before, but I think the more people that hear Damien the better, for them anyway.
My only hope is that they'll buy the album and hear the real cannonball.
Speaking of the album, it was number nine about 2 weeks ago in the Irish charts, has anyone any idea what it is now?

Think the album is in the top 5 now, maybe that's the uk chart or maybeI is wrong altogether!? Imagine it got no.1???

"O" is number 10 on the album charts and "Cannonball" is number 40 in singles in UK charts.

I heard the album version of Cannonball on Radio 1 today, a refreshing change from the remix.

I heard them say on 96fm that they are getting bucket loads of requests for the Cannonball remix every day!

The Boyf loves the Cannonball remix, and thinks the rest of Damien Rice is crap!

Isn't Damo in a way going against all his anti mainstream ideals by releasing a radio friendly remix?

I've heard people saying they love Cannonball, buy O cos they thinks it's on it and hate the original version. It'll be interesting to see how many new fans this attracts. I don't know if Damien's "usual" music is going to appeal to all the Cannonball remix lovers.

The second album will... many people don't like 'O' cos it's too slow and quiet... the new stuff will really excite people!

maybe when that film comes out in the fall it'll be all blower's daughter instead...?


only heard damien on danish radio once and it was the up-tempo version of cannonball. (not the remix. i mean, there are two apart from the album version, right?)

I went to cardiff today (where I finally managed to get a Frames album!) And cannonball was being played everywhere, EVERYWHERE!!!!


Its really weird coz I've had O for well over a year, and I was the only person I knew who had it, but today I was walking through shops and people are there singing along to cannonball, its strange.[img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

it was really cool...i went to a music festival this weekend and the first night i turned up i heard the blowers daughter really loud being played in the distance and on the last night we got about 300 people singing cannonball!! Was something i shall never forget!

yup the damien love is certainly spreading - my little sister tells me she heard it played this weekend by the DJ at our local nightclub here in thurles. if theyre playing it here in the middle of nowhere, at a club that usually plays crap then its definately a good sign of the times! yesterday and saw that the b-sides had a diffent cover and had
only 7 songs on it.

I cannot stand the remix version... To me its like listening to a classic song (take ya pick) and adding a stupid beat to it.....


its almost like a pervision.,... everytime I hear it on the radio I cringe and tell people to listen to the album version.....

i know i almost have to run out of the room.its hard because i never damo on the radio and when i do it's great,but does it always have to be the remix??


hopefully when the new album comes out songs off that will get played instead seeing as how they are meant to be louder and faster
