As a writer, and usually quite a dark writer, I think Grey Room is one of the few songs that really captures the emotion of the process for me. Just pushing and pushing people for inspiration, falling into desperation, destroying things, capturing things, trusting, hoping, losing. For me, Grey Room is a chronicle of just how hard life as a writer can be sometimes, as you trap yourself in stupid mindsets. Yet there's still that huge element of hope in it.
