Don't think it's a matter of trying... I think his voice is kinda peculiar so you get it or you don't. I've been trying all my friends to like him, some do, but most don't... and at first I was kinda frustrated, but now I accept it
I still remember the 1st time I listen to him, 5 seconds into Follow You Down To The Red Oak Tree and I was totally mesmerized, so for me it was instant
then I got the album and was equally impressed to the point of taking a plane inpromptu and flying to see him play live in Paris, and he was amazing live... so for me he's been the best thing of 2011
