Hard to compare the two but the Whelans show was a lot more intimate yet a little less coherent. Nothing will change that gig, which could be the finest and best i've seen of him.
I didn't feel he missed the band at the Whelans gig, he could have played it all completely unplugged and was just perfect.
On a bigger stage, for a bigger crowd last night, it felt like he was compensating, or perhaps thats just how i'm used to those songs being played in that way.
